    What are you talking about...?!

I was refering to the parcel too - if a seller buys their postage via the RM website or via paypal they have the option to tick a box which hides the postage cost. So going ALL the way back to my original question - what star rating should someone leave if they don't know how much the seller bleedin paid for said postage? Jesus...

I can't comment on the courier thing as i've only ever bought small items from ebay that have come with my normal mail thru the letter box.

Regardless of whether you can see the postage or not, do you think that the amount you paid for p&p represents a good deal or not. Was it well wrapped? Clearly addressed? Regardless of whether you can see how much they paid for the postage, do you think you were fairly charged for the postage and packing and the time and effort put into getting it to you. I think that is what you should worry about as postage is not the full story on p&p. In my infrequent sales the plastic envelopes I use are 20p each, plus I wrap any books in lining paper first which cushions them really well but means that the item is usually sent as a package not a letter. I really make an effort to wrap an item well and charge postage at a reasonable rate and I would hope that would be reflected in my DSRs.

If you think they were taking the pish (as in my example above) then mark them down. Otherwise I would not worry too much about the actual cost at the post office but just the overall p&p 'experience'.

I asked what star rating would you leave for someones P&P charges if they had hidden their postage price on the envelope.

It was a very simple question.

You would of thought so wouldn't you.

I gave you a simple answer but for some reason like everyone else's answers it wasn't good enough for you.

I think you should give them top marks because you knew what the postage was before you decided to bid and if you wasn't happy with it then you shouldn't have bid on the item.

You didn't give a simple answer.

Why should I give them top marks if I can't see what it's cost them to post it?

No that is a simple answer.

You made it more difficult by asking another question because you wasn't happy with mine and basically everyone else's answers.

So if you get a parcel sent via courier, which would have no price on it, you'd mark down?
    Any comments?

As for something being sent to me via courier, I've never bought anything from ebay that has been sent to me this way. It's always been RM.

So I can't comment on that as of yet.

The only thing I've had delivered by someone other than RM was my new phone from 02 and my free moving home box...

Okay then, hypothetically, if you receive an item, bought on ebay, and delivered by carrier, you would mark down. Right? That's how your (il)logical thought processes seem to be working with regard to your un-priced postal delivery.

Did you know that a number of ebay sellers, and others, have their post collected from them by RM, and then get a discount from RM for sending so much per month? Don't you think it's awful that they might not pass on that discount to you?

Of course, you could message everyone you wish to buy from and ask them for a breakdown of their costs with regards to P&P. I'm sure you'd be added to so many BBLs that buying anything on ebay might prove impossible in future.

    It all boils down to the fact you knew what you'd be paying and you got the service you paid for. Your original question was;
What type of star rating for P&P charges would you leave for someone who pays for their postage via PayPal and ticks the box which says "hide postal price"?

and the consensus of opinion seems to be:

Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.

Well, as I said earlier - I've not been in this situation to know...
