I haven't got a problem - I was just seeking advice from some ebay folk regarding what star rating to leave in certain situations.0
-
Actually, today, for the first time ever, I have left a four instead of a five on the DSRs for feedback, and it was on postage.
Now I hold my hands up and say that I cannot complain too much. The postage was clearly marked on the listing and that it was not recorded or anything. I bought two books from the same seller and didn't ask about combined postage. It would have been a nice gesture if he had knocked something off the p&p but I didn't ask and I can't complain that he didn't.
However, I got charged a total of £8.74 for two medium to slim paperbacks in one ordinary jiffy bag, second class royal mail, postage price hidden. I thought the paperbacks would have been a lot chunkier to justify the high postage charged and a little better wrapped.
Like I say, can't complain, but I will be reluctant to go back. That is the sort of thing that is giving the 'hidden postage' a bad name.
Before you slate me - please note this is just a contribution to the discussion and I fully accept that I was willing to pay this when I bid so I have no grounds to complain.Always another chapter0 -

Hardly a situation though is it?
I think Dave has already gone over the point of postage and how its ruining ebay so I wont bother going there again.
I can quite honestly say though I'm glad I don't sell on ebay any more if this is the sort of thing that constantly goes on because the sellers have just got no chance.
I'm not saying all sellers are good and all buyers are bad but I am saying that some are ruining it for themselves and everyone else.0 -

I think... life's too short!
Weigh it and figure out the real price if you're bothered about having it concealed from you.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Now your making it sound like the whole worlds going to end if you don't leave feedback.
You do know you don't have to leave anything if your not sure?
For example I don't always give out 5* for sellers communication because if I haven't asked the seller a question about the item or had a problem with it then obviously I haven't spoke to them.0 -
Everything I buy get 5 stars, regardless of the actual cost of postage, if:
1/ It comes by the service specified in the listing, or better.
2/ It arrives in a reasonable time.
3/ It matches the description.
4/ The seller contacts me in a timely manner if there's a problem.
I don't look at the cost of the postage on the packet, I'd already agreed I was happy to pay their POST & PACKING charge when I bid. I don't expect, nor want, to receive any emails saying it has been despatched, as long as it arrives pretty quickly after close of auction. If, after receipt, I find it's not what I expected, or in the condition I thought it would be, I re-read the listing in case I misread it. If I did, it's my fault, not theirs.
If I bid on more than one item from a seller, I check before I bid if they'll reduce P&P. I wouldn't whinge about it afterwards if I hadn't checked and they hadn't reduced it.
It boils down to - if the seller does what he says he'll do, and to what I've agreed by bidding, then he's met his end of the deal and gets good feedback and five stars.Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.
Should OF, would OF. Dear oh dear. You really should have, or should've listened at school when that nice English teacher was explaining how words get abbreviated.0 -

Erm, exactly! So if they hide the postage price, I too wont leave 5*
Durrrr...0 -

Exactly so leave nothing if it really bothers you that much.0 -
If the item isn't as described, you'd mark them down.
If their communication is poor, you'd mark them down.
If the despatch time is poor, you'd mark them down.
And if their P&P charges are poor, you'd mark them down.
So to continue on this merry-go-round, if their P&P charges are hidden why should I give them top marks?0
