Yes you should be able to.But you would have to join to get a number from them. Its normally a freephone number. They use to allocate it over phone,so you could use it before the smart box arrived.

So, just to check (sorry if I'm asking a stupid question!), if I sign up with oneTel for the 99p evening & weekend package, as a NTL customer, I:

    Only pay 99p per month
Get free evening & weekend calls to geographic numbers
    12 month contract (?)
Can continue to use my orchid dialler by using their access number

You have two choices you can either take
    (1) Free weekend calls.(Foc) or
    (2) Free evening and weekend calls.(99p a month). Their is no min term on call packages. In any case if you didnt want to use it just unplug phonepal.
    (3) Their is no technical reason why you cant use Orchid D,providing Onetel give you access number.

    Phonepal details are here http://www.onetel.co.uk/index.php?node=faq&cat=36

i have ntl too, i was wondering if i subscribed to one tel's 99p per month call package and would they give me a phonepal/adapter to plug in?

also if i take advantage of this would i be able to cancel my ntl phone line and go back to bt or something becuase i am paying £17.99 for 1mb broadband and also another £15 for phone line rental which i dont use much and i could use one-tel instead

    thanks

Yes they would send you phonepal.Read the info at link i have posted.

You could cancel your NTL line and go back to BT.(Its recommended that you dont use Onetel Line Rental for various reasons.) If you went back to Bt you would not even have to use Onetel. You could CPS to one of the Free Evening and Weekend Suppliers mentioned on this site eg primus saver..(No smart box needed for this). Saving the 99p a month approx £12 a year, and using them in conjunction with 1899 for cheaper peak rate and mobile calls.

Well, Ive just signed up using Martin's link and set up my orchid dialler using the freephone access number. I did notice this part of thier T&C's but I beleive it only applies to CPS.
2.2 You must: (i) be at least 18 years old to enter into this Contract; (ii) be the owner of the main telephone line, or authorised by such owner to use the main telephone line, over or in respect of which we will provide the Telephone Service to you; and (iii) agree to use us for all of your voice calls from your home telephone number in order to be able to receive the Line Rental Service at our normal rates.
