Last year I had a hire car and damaged the sill on a kerb? I had taken out excess insurance so was covered for damage,no other party was involved and I heard no more about it I am now in the process of buying car and have gone on all the compare sites when asked by insurers had I ever had a claim made against me I have said yes. Will this put my insurance cover up even if it was a hire car
Yes, if you tell them as you can't specify it was a hire car. And as far as I am aware you don't declare it, unless it was in the UK?0 -
Martin tends to believe that you should book early when it comes to car hire. My opinion is that if you leave it much closer to your departure, you will get a better deal.
I am particularly interested in hiring a car from a UK airport over the Christmas period.
Cheapest quotes for 6 days are in region of £180. This seems exorbitant for a small economy car?0 -

Looking into hiring a car from carcassone, France for one week next june using Martins guide a company called Firefly are coming up the cheapest. My question is why is this company so much cheaper than the well known brands. Is it the obvious reason because they are big brands. Whats the catch?0

What price are you getting? The LeClerc supermarket in Carcasonne hires out cars and they are usually/always cheaper than hire companies.0

For 7 days a economy car e.g fiesta is £100 from firefly,£143 from keddy(budget europecar),£184 from alamo. Why is there a £85 diffence
can you book online from leclerc0 -
I've taken out an annual insurance policy that covers all sorts of damage to cars I hire and to third parties. However, I've been unable to find a policy that provides breakdown cover. The car hire companies offer it of course, but then you are back to a situation akin to that with accident insurance. Does anyone know of an annual breakdown policy that covers car hire in Europe and / or the USA?0

In my experience if the car supplied stops working they replace it with one that does work.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Anyone have experience of atlas choice, they are coming in the cheapest so far but it does not stated the car supplier, emailed them to ask and they said it will be on the confirmation once booked. I take it that will mean it's a local hire company and not one of the well known ones0

Since no one knows the supplier concerned, do you really expect a subjective opinion?
You haven't even stated destination and dates. This isn't a psychic board.0
