4 months today!
Moving in with OH on Saturday which will save me money that I can throw at debt. Was going through my old financial papers on Sat and it's quite scary to see how bad it was back in the day - looking at the volume of withdrawals on old bank statements and loan documents that I could barely afford.
Now looking at the budget, seeing that I should have enough saved up to buy myself a (nearly) new sportscar in early 2010. That's where I'm focussed.
Just for today I will not gamble.0 -
Ames I've been through the same, I had to kick my Ex out because of his gambling amongst other things. If you ever want to chat then please do get in touch.
I went out on Saturday for a drink for a friend's birthday. I had 3 people come up to me saying they have seen Ex and he is so upset that we have split up and that I should really consider taking him back. It bloody ruined my night as they had no clue about the reasons. They soon got sent packing with a flea in their ears about minding their own businesses and a deeper insight into my reasons and with a message of my own to Ex "You had numerous chances to change your ways but you chose not to. The consequence of your choice was to be single so go and be single" With a bit of luck if he tries talking to them and getting them to try and guilt trip me again they'll pass on my message or tell him they are not getting involved.0 -

Happy 1st ex gambling celebration riquelme. Hope you have a fantastic evening. Best wishes and I hope every year from now will be easier and happier xx0 -
Well done Riq, that's great!
TB, ignore them, I'm sure if they knew the full story they wouldn't be so quick to take sides. Thanks for the support with my situation, most stuff is sorted now. I've decided that I'm going to be stronger and not let anyone take advantage of me anymore.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Thanks. I wanted to say to you before that I thought you were mad to still be with him BUT who am I to say that. I stuck with my Ex for 2years before realising that enough was enough and that I did not deserve to be treated like that. Now I look back and think why didn't I do it sooner?
I'm so much better off on my own I've cleared debts and have managed to save some savings. I was 18 the last time I had £3000 to my name. My bank account is healthy and if I really make changes I could join the mfw board soon.
I'm thinking about my life steps and what I want to achieve and by when and my whole outlook is more positive. When I look at the debts he left me with, I write it off as payment to get rid of him. I look at it as I bought the freedom and in reality I would've paid more if I had needed to so got a bit of a deal really.0 -
Hi guys
Almost got a working computer at home now. Replaced motherboard, CPU and harddrive - also need a mouse and keyboard as these are dead too. Can get online with an old XP version but been using my dad's keyboard and don't think that can continue for much longer. Tried to install Windows7 but it doesn't recognise my wireless card.
Great news there Riq - so pleased for you. From the start it never sounded like you may waver and i'm glad to see you've kept strong and are still not gambling. How's the missus taking the news or is this something you're doing on your own?
TB - what's happened to you? Confident, happy and with a plan?
So pleased you are no longer being dragged back and not feeling guilty for someone elses mistakes. You've got the determination and direction back in your life - you go girl!!
Ames - Even though it'll be the best thing for you, it must still be hard. Try to focus on yourself and don't wate any time worrying about him - you deserve better.
We're here for you any time you need to chat or vent.

well another recruit to this thread.
I've been gambling in on-line casino's for a few years. Never thought it was a problem, but it clearly is. I've gone from a position of having a decent amount of savings to now being £35k in debt.
Time to stop now. I've excluded myself from all the sites I use. Gamblock will not work as I use a mac.
Now to start to get to grips with paying off the debt. So frustrating that I could have had a comfortable life had I not thrown all that cash away.....:mad:0 -
Thanks TB. I've been trying to get rid of him for ages, setting a date and then him not leaving when it came. I'm trying to take back control of my life from him and my sister, live how I want not how they want me to. It's feeling good so far!
Well done Mat! Please try not to dwell too much on the might have beens, you've had your LBM (lightbulb moment) and now you can start changing things and make sure you have the future you want. The past is gone now.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
