Hey all just a quick update. Had my first testing moment yesterday, was feeling bit down as I'm running short of cash for the month (mainly due to gambling at the start of it ) and I must admit there was a 5 minute period when logging on and playing some cards for some cash seemed like the thing to do, but I made it through (that sounds so pathetic but :S). Can't decide if it was cos I knew that Gamblock would stop me or if it was cos I've stepped back a bit but either way...I didn't do it. Gonna be a tough month but I feel good knowing I still haven't cracked, hope every1 else is ok.

    Hi Guys,

I feel like I'm intruding but well done on helping each other out so much! I only started reading this thread out of curiosity so I don't think I can add anything constructive but I hope you all manage to overcome the difficulties that must be associated with gambling. I haven't read all of the thread but it sounds like you're all doing well!

Just to hijack for a wee sec though...

Baxggtdi - There's another thread on DFW that may be useful to you, it's the payment a day thread. It's a really motivating way to pay off your debt and everyone is really friendly and supportive. It was just an idea, I thought it might be of some help to some of you.

bax- it doesnt matter how you got through it or when (after 1 day, 1 week , 1 month or 1 year) the important thing is that you got through it.

angel. welcome - any advice is more than welcomed

Hi all, I've not been on this site for aaages, but I'm back now (well, when I'm not outside in the sun!)

It's really good to see the old names are still here, you're all doing fantastically well.

And it's good to see the new faces too, it's great to see people facing up to it and stopping.

It seems to me that the number of ads on tv has gone up massively lately, I really wish something could be done about it. At the very least stop advertising during the day or early evening, it's just setting up for a generation who thinks that gambling's fine.

But I'll stop rambling now, I just wanted to say well done to everyone!

And TB, please don't feel in any way guilty about your ex. Just look at the kids and think where they'd be now if you'd stayed - they wouldn't be on the canal bank with you, you'd have lost them completely. You did what you had to for them (or is it just one? Sorry I can't remember).
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Welcome to the thread Serge, Sounds like you know exactly what you need to do. Maybe next time you get a bonus at work and feel the urge to gamble try giving you OH a call and telling her how much you've got. That way you are putting a block in place that if you gamble it she'll ask where it went....

It's up to whether you share but a quick phone call might be all it takes to stop you spending any of it on a bet.

Welcome back Ames. Advertising on tv used to bug me something cronic. Now its been so long since i had a bet i just switch over. I'm not sure if it's gone up or whether i just noticed it more because of my problem. Either way, it doesnt bother me anymore so stick with it and you'll soon just swear at the ads or switch over x

Hope everyone had a good, bet free weekend xx

Well done Serge (and the others).

If you haven't already done so i suggest you close down any betting accounts you had so that the temptation is reduced even more.

I noticed you put up a SOA - i'll take a look and make some comments.

Well I did it, 1 month yesterday! Can't say I miss it greatly now but I do occasionally have the urge a little when I'm bored or something bad happens..like the other day when my turbo randomly exploded on me bye bye £1600 in repair bills :S. But anyways, 1 day atr a time and all that, looking forward to getting paid tommorrow and paying my first overpayment on my loan as planned :), Keep up the good work every1
