great posts guys. welcome to the thread. once you get the gambling side of your head clearer you will eventually realise how much easier it is to NOT gamble once your loved ones know.
If they love you and they see that you've made a conscious effort to stop and have a plan on clearing debt etc... they WILL support you.
if they wont? then they arent right for you im afraid.
chances are they already have a suspision anyway.
life can be amazing WITHOUT gambling. its not always amazing i have to admit but you know what? i love just being "normal" now.
i love that i have some self respect and i know what im good at and arent afraid to challenge someone if they try to knock me down.
If i can stop gambling, which very nearly ruined and ended my life, i can do anything!
why would i want to go back to that misery for the sake of a bet....so i might win £50000 so what, i already know that chances are i would just want more anyway because just another 2 would get me this.... or a bit more would mean this....
its not about how much money you win or lose its about the "what ifs"
i like my life without what ifs now.... i plan, i save, i enjoy
Have a great gamble free weekend everybody.
Get out! enjoy the summer (whats left of it), spend proper time with your nearest and dearest xxLast bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
Well..so far so good. Have managed to stay away from bookies n arcades feeling better about myself to. It's only a week but have managed to control the urge to gamble so far. Even went for a pint n stayed clear of the fruit machine which was winking at me.
September is a busy work month so that will be a good distraction n hopefully will be financially rewarding..money to save / pay off debt.0 -
thats great news jellybaby!! those machines are evil lol flashing their twinkly lights all over the place!
i used to avoid places where they were at the start but they dont bother me anymore. nobody i know would let me play them anyway! they certainly arent going to give me a life changing win either....just a life changing disappointment.
keep going, one day at a timeLast bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
Thanks cantcope...tricky day today as I am off and going into the city where there is a bookie or arcade on every corner. This will be a test.0

Brilliant!!! think of the alternative...no lovely lunch or drinks just a heavy heart
you will eventually not notice them. this is a way off though. this is a tough thing to tackle. Even almost 9 years on it still very occasionally crossed my mind...what if..... then my sensible head says, i know exactly what would happen...i'd gamble until i lost everything again. and if it didnt happen the first day, week, month it would eventually so theres no point.
i had a wonderful weekend at peppa pig land with my husband and son. paid for before we went, money for food a lollies and a lovely hotel to stay in. gambling couldnt have been further from my mindLast bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
