riquelme,
Interesting user name btw,
I'm not into sport but have male friends in their 40s and 50's who play for veteran teams and wondered if this could be a possibility for you?. No doubt you've considered this and if so sorry for suggesting the obvious.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420 -

I've got a dilemma. BF wants to go to Paris next week for a card game expo. He hasn't got any money and wants me to pay it with my study grant. I really don't want to though - it's not my fault that he's gambled away his money instead of saving for his holiday, and I just don't trust him to pay me back. Am I being too harsh? Or will missing his holiday be a kick he needs to realise that his gambling's a problem? He's just making me feel that I'm being really mean.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Ames<<<hello I don't think you are being mean at all. I would not pay it . Maybe once upon a time I would have but you learn by your mistakes be strong and stick to your guns. Take Care:TNot going to bury my head in sand any longer

He wants to gamble with your study grant - and you're considering it?
What about your studies - don't you need the money for this?
Has he ever paid you back what he has taken or "borrowed"?
Tell him you can't afford it. If he starts ranting about it, explain what a budget is and that you've planned what you can spend and you simply can't afford this.
Not only has he not saved for his holiday, but what would he be going for if he has no money to buy anything? I'm assuming these are cards you buy rather than a casino style "card game"?After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Yeah they're trading cards, he wants to play in the world championships.
He doesn't want to gamble, but it's because he's gambled all his money that he can't afford to go. I'm also miffed that he wants to fly there and stay in hotels - if I go away I go by coach and stay in hostels, but his friend wont do that.
He says I'll just waste the money anyway so he might as well have fun with it. He says I waste all my money anyway.
Hopefully I can be strong, he's going on about it as I type...Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Tell him NO please I beg of you. Do not give him any money. It will be a slippery slope trust me I know.
Remind him that the reason he does not have the money to go is because he has wasted his money long before you have.
I know it's easy for us to say but we are not there. I have thought the same myself but then push came to shove (literally).
I wish you all the luck in whatever decision you decide to take.0 -
Yeah well if he thinks you waste your money what has he done with his? And this is your money for you to make the decisions about. Not that I think for a moment that you're wasting it, just that he has!CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420
