I thought you didn't like bullying?
Honestly, re-read this, and then think about it again....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
As I said a deluded juvenille, prone to flying flags of convenience.
That said, best put this to bed and concentrate on the topic of the forumanger, denial, acceptance

If anything the bullying seems to be coming from the side of the bulls who've made quite a few antagonistic comments. There seems to be lots of posts in this thread explaining quite calmly why prices will fall further and why buying right at the start of a crash is not a good idea. It seems that the only counter arguments the bulls are able to supply is a few antagonistic comments followed swiftly by accusations that they're being bullied or that they're going to leave the forum because nobody agrees with them. In fact now they seem much keener on discussing bullying than house prices.
I think it says a lot for the state of the market when there are simply no logical arguments left for further prices rises and all thats left is diversionary tactics.0 -

Broderick is always trying to raise heckles and stir up an argument, usually by targeting whoever he thinks is going to rise to his bait. That's typically me or Carolt.
I posted his opening comments in this subforum back on the 3rd of April in the other thread about 'bullying' that he started, again in his attempts to troll. Glad to see pobby brought up another quote of his where he announced he was going - only to return a few days later. :rotfl:
For those long enough on the internet to remember when forums were all about Usenet, absolute classic troll behaviour.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -

Hilarious really. :rotfl:trulysaintly wrote: »However, as recently all I have experienced is certain individuals with NO experience of buying or selling, who plainly talk out of their rear ends and abuse others because they disagree with people, I am not going to post anymore on this forum.
So you can all talk yourselves into suicide over life and wallow in self pity - which on the whole is all you deserve.
An adviser whose parting shot to people who disagree with her outlook - apparently based on the conclusion the press is to blame - is to claim "abuse" simple because we dared to disagree with her and offered alternative views.
And then showing her true pathetic colours by wishing people would commit suicide because we "deserve it".
All simply because we refuse to buy in at these insane prices and have a fully more sophisticated understanding of the market! An unbalanced woman, probably under pressure to meet her own bills.0 -
You too ?I must admit Brodders (alias Dan?) has a point. When I first came here, must be a few weeks ago now, I was convinced that building a BTL empire was the way forward. I had mortgages arranged, properties chosen, and all was set. I think I made a first tentative post to find out if anyone could advise me further. Well, I was a bit surprised by the reaction I must say. Post after post came at me, with facts and figures, threats and insults until I could hardly type for shaking. My health suffered, couldn't concentrate at work, even took to self abuse again.
Suffice it to say that after this level of attack by the killer bears I decided to shelve my plans for the future, sell my house, get divorced, take up smoking and reinvent myself as a bear.
And now life is good once more...0 -
Boy, you kids were up having some fun last night, huh?
The way I see it, nobody can contribute unbiased opinions on this board. If you want to sell (your house, your mortgage advising services, etc) or make a profit from housing (BTL, etc) then you're going to be a bit bullish in the current climate. If you want to buy, like me and a host of others on here, then you're going to be bearish.
I don't see the need for anyone to get banned from this board. Yes, some posters are a little overzealous in their views but I don't believe anyone has broken the rules of the site (or the laws of a civilised society).
On the parent board this little patch of turf has been referred to as "the ghetto" more than once - a place where disenfranchised, missed-the-boat, bitter, resentful lunatics congregate and whip themselves into a frenzy at the possibility of one day being able to own their own homes. "The ghetto". Nice. I think you'll find the parent board can be far less friendlier than this one.
If anyone, FTB / current home owner/ investor, wants to buy and sell in the current climate then go ahead and do it (if you can!). The bears and their opinions aren't stopping you...
But when a mortgage broker or advisor comes on the board and suggests to FTB-ers that now is a good time to buy, interests declared or not, I think it's quite suspect and it would be negligent if the reasoning were not at least challenged.
I read Truly's posts and I can see his perspective: the hobby BTL-ers will fall and the pro BTL-ers will swoop in and grab a bargain. Good for them. What that has to do with a domestic consumer website and purchasing a home for yourself and your family is anyone's guess. As far as I'm aware this place is about saving money not investing in commodities.
It's the only part of the site where rising prices are seen as a good thing. If people can get half-hards over saving £10 on a Black and Decker cordless drill, or saving £6 by going to the cinema on a Wednesday rather than a Tuesday, then a few £10,000s off the price of a home is a good thing... right?
If house prices are likely to be lower next year, and even the year after, and maybe the year after that, then it's completely in the spirit of the site to suggest that people wait before buying (and argue against the retailers coming on here to sell).0
