This would be my dream...but as someone else said, by the time everything's sorted it's just so much easier to sit and surf online until bedtime!Resolution:

I hate TV and love power cuts when I can sit and read by the fire and candleight.0

So glad this thread was started.
Last night DH and I played a few rounds of Gin Rummy (2 games won each) as there was nothing we wanted to watch. We're on the gas and leccy challenge, so will suggest we play cards more often.
Like someone else said, I actually quite enjoy powercuts! Not heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.

I am studying so do that in the evenings as well as surfing the Net. I read books, write notes, occasionally play cards (patience), play online games by myself not multiplayer. I listen to my radio as well.
Just come back from a camping holiday where we had taken a portable DVD player and as we didnt charge the battery enough and once some kind soul unplugged it and left it without much charge - we watched Mr Bean's Holiday spread over 3 nights:rotfl:
We played another game too - kill the flies with the battery-operated fly killer:rotfl:0 -
I remember the 70's and winter of discontent etc...we would be watching a programme (only 3 channels in those days) and everything would go off 1/2 way through. We were only kids but we used to play dominoes, snakes and ladders, draughts and make shadow puppets by candlelight!Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I know it probably uses as much leccie as tv but me and dh listed to the radio or a bit of music and read. When someone from work popped round to see me one night and found us with the tv off listening to radio she found it very odd and told eveyone at work that my home life is like something out of the 1940's!! (is it just me who likes coming on this site because i encounter people who are likeminded-something which rarely happens in the real world!)0

My friends have always found it really amusing that I'm the way I am, but I was brought up in a very make do and mend way, was taught to do things the 'good old way' from day one and am very proud of it (I am 27 btw). And now they're laughing on the other side of their faces, moaning to me about how they envy my supply of fresh home-grown veg and how on earth do I pay so little for my energy bills etc etcDebt busting! There's something really satisfying about listening to the "wireless" as opposed to tv. If it's a play or a drama then the sound effects are quite interesting ! I try to imagine what they're using to make the noise with..0
