The Mystery Shopping thread - part 5

Hi all
I have been with RE for a few years now and never had that many problems until the last couple of weeks. I am getting lots and lots of queries, many of them are very picky. I had six calls from them yesterday. For the fees involved it is not worth the hassle.
Anyone else found this?

After 40 odd questions your thinking "are you kidding me or what!!" As I said earlier I chose these because I was already doing a job for GR and I (and DD) needed to be fed. The food itself was good - hot, tasty and filling but not sure it's worth spending ages afterwards filling in the completely annoying questionnaires. Even when I put a comment in it asks for more - I mean come on.....
Ellie how we all agree with you. For what it's worth here is what I did. Remember the person who emailed you at the beginning when you got accepted. I emailed her with my complaints about this and said for the paltry fee I wasn't prepared to jump through all those hoops. For £5!!!!
If a lot more people did what I did and for the good of the majority deny yourself a free coffee or a miserable free pint of lager and tell them to go stuff their jobs and mega reports they would stop exploiting us as that is what they are doing.
We have do it with their pharmacy jobs and out of curiosity I had a look today and put Leeds, Manchester Glasgow etc into the search and there are loads and loads of unfilled jobs there. So when they go crawling to said pharmacy company I hope to God they lose the contract and a better company like GfK get it.
If enough of you feel as I do then PM me and I will stick my neck out and email them again saying how we all feel and at least try and open a communication with them. I wouldn't be aggressive about it but I think they need a gentle word in their shell like.
I appreciate though I am OK as I have apart time job that there are people out there with serious debt problems clutching at straws exploiting them. RE are the sort of business that a century ago had no compunction about sending children down chimneys.
I know folks you won't recognise this serious HP and thing someone stole my log in but I think this company are taking the mickey out of us.
On a cheerier note as I type this in Glasgow it is raining dogs and buckets. Anyone new to the forum won't understand this but my friends here all will.:rotfl:Clique member no 1.:D0 -
I did a BARE electical audit on friday however failed to spot bit in the brief that says "you cannot shop between 12pm and 2pm". Now the job comments say "Hold A - Not edited - Shopped over the lunch hour." and the fee has been reduced to zero. I'm assuming I won't get paid for this....
Not sure what difference the time makes and it was only an audit? It's not like I was assessing staff and it was dead in the store anyone, not like a lunch time rush hour0 -
HP - I must admit, I've only been doing this for a few months and at first felt that I should be doing every job I could to prove myself but come on, seriously......it took me the same time to complete 2 RE jobs as it did to complete the 3 BARE garage jobs that paid way, way more than RE did. I know they say only accept a job if your going to be in the vicinity anyway which is OK but RE's questionnaire are beyond belief. You have to put a comment in all the time. Even where is said "what could we improve?" and I replied "nothing" apparently I hadn't written enough and had to go back to write more......At least with GR you can put in between 1 and 250 characters which is ideal. I don't understand why they have to make it so complicated  And don't get me started on the pharmacy jobs. If they need you to interact with the pharmasist you shouldn't need a prescription for this. Anyone can come up with a reason to need to speak to them - and why buy hayfever tablets? Why not be able to interact with the sales staff over buying anything from the store? Maybe your right, I think an e-mail to them is needed x0

Can I ask a question - just out of interest?
How many MS companies do you do assignments for?
I'm only asking because before i started posting in this thread, i Ms'd for four companies. I have now registered with a further five companies because i've seen others on this thread mention them and they seem to be legit (although i haven't carried out any assignments for them yet).
Do you think it's worth registering with lots of companies, and do you find that you get regular assignments from the companies you are registered with? TIA for you comments.0 -

I'm curious about this, too. I have registered with about a dozen but only had work from three. I think some have more work in different parts of the country and some turn out to be more professional than others - and sadly you don't find that out until you've gone through the (sometimes quite arduous) applications.
I'm considering just doing a google search for MS companies but am a bit of a scaredy cat (hence the name) and scared of giving my details to companies that may not be legit. That's why I only registered with those that have been listed or mentioned on here. Any comments anyone? I guess you can only vouch for those that are listed here, but has anyone just googled and found a decent company?0 -

Guys - check out Becles fab list of ms comps here
I have slowly added one of these at a time and now am with over 20+. A lot are not as prolific as Gyp or RE, but can offer a fairer fee and a more interesting range of jobs. You have to find what works for you.
I ms for pocket money for me, and it is not a full-time occupation, so I only accept jobs that either pay well or are doing something that suits my lifestyle - that is why it suits me to be with as many comps as possible. For example at the start of this month I did a mystery massage and I will end the month with a mystery leg wax, and between then I have 3 mystery family days out booked in and a few shops. Fiddling with prescriptions for a pittance and a cabinet full of hayfever remedies do not appeal to me. But - for a free latte I am anyones!:rotfl:

Just to add to my previous post, looks like BARE are goning to pay me now, got let off with a stern warning this time!0

Please can I ask some questions about a supermarket audit? I've never done one and don't want to appear a complete idiot!
What's a gondola end? I assume it's the end of the shelf where they often have promotional items? If the MS company has specified a gondola end number, can I assume you just count from 1 upwards from the entrance or do I ask staff to tell me what number it is?
What's a barker?
I don't understand the questions regarding the shelf edge label - the questionnaire asks if they are present on entry, and on exit. Does this mean at the time I entered the store and the time I left the store - or does it mean are they visible as a promotion at the entrance of the store?
What does 'ranged to be stocked by the store (check stock system)' mean? And how do I check stock system?
Thanks0
