I did a phone shop the other week and there was only one staff member right at the back dealing with a customer, so I browsed the phones like you, then this person came in off the street and asked if I was okay  turned out he was another member of staff, but he was hard going trying to get any information out of him, he might as well have been off the street! If he hadn't gone and got a business card, after I asked for one, then I wouldn't have been sure :D
Is that the phone store where they are not allowed out on the street now? I did one of them and was offered a cash incentive to sign up - which was on the red alert flag list at the end of my questionnaire  bet the manager won't be doing that again :rotfl:

I love them shops when they say 'do not volunteer any info, wait for the staff member to ask' well, I had which would have ended after hello if I had not have said anything - the bloke did not ask me a single question, I didn't kow whether it would be better to leave or give him the info to spur him on......so I stayed and I just about managed to spend the minimum of 15 minutes in the store and that included the 5 minutes waiting :rotfl:

No, it wasn't that store, I don't think I even saw him outside, but if he had seen me, he would have noticed that I had gone into the phone shop next door to that one and the one next door to that and the one 2 doors down and come out of each talking to my mobile phone look alike about names and what was left/right :rotfl:
  • Is that the phone store where they are not allowed out on the street now?

The problem with that is, what happens if they've left for lunch and come back to find the store busy so they've started helping straight away? You could be marking them down for coming back from their break 5 minutes early.
I just about managed to spend the minimum of 15 minutes in the store and that included the 5 minutes waiting :rotfl:

This is quite a common problem I have, and it's usually the good reviews that it applies to. If you go in and get served quickly, and they go through the questions quickly enough you can be done in about half the time you're supposed to spend there. I'm always a bit worried about submitting reports saying I was there 10 minutes when they've told you to spend 20, but how are you supposed to stay there without giving yourself away?

Unless they were listening to what you said that would look quite natural. If I'm doing a phone shop I usually take in a catalogue from another shop to make it look more genuine.

I much prefer the jobs that go well, I find I get stressed if I get rude service mostly as I can't complain as I normally would :) Keeping it bottled up is not good for me lol! Which is why I won't be able to MS my nearest o2 shop in the forseeable future ;) I wasn't on a job of course but I was mad as hell at the incompetent new trainee.........

And when will those darned chemist shops disappear from RE? There are tons of them and trawling through them is driving me nuts!

Rant over. I feel better now :)

  • On the subject of incompetents have any of you ever encountered a staff member saying something so incriminating that their hq would be furious? If I do I find myself screaming inside: "stop right there" I hate it when they drop themselves straight into the doodah...

When indeed Roxy. There are over 30 in an easy travellable distance from me. You like my new word btw. When will they realise no one wants to do them. I have already told them when they rang me to ask why I was not taking them as I did loads when you could buy anything and didn't need a prescription. Big long report and purchasing hay fever tabs to stick in a cupboard and a photo. They are having a laff.
