A friend of mine, who resides in Northern Ireland, has just received an email from a mystery shopping company wanting them to complete a job in Stranraer as it is supposed to be near them!! They also said they are willing to pay travel expenses!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    I wondered that too.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Becles, I agree, that's dreadful. Have you thought about writing to someone like the Chief Exec of the client company to let them know what's going on? After all they would be interested in your report - and also in the fact that the MS company they are paying is clearly trying to fudge reports.

Absolutely. It's totally against your contract to be contacting the client company but one would expect that the MSing company have a contract with the client to be doing their job!
  • I realise it would be technically wrong of Becles to contact the client company direct, but if she's already decided she won't be working for that company again, surely she has nothing to lose? Technically I would think the MS company are in breach of their contract to pay a shopper for a correct report - if it went to court, I reckon they would have a tough time proving she'd made it up. What motive would she have?

This is just so unfair that I think someone high up should be informed. Also, I don't know if it's worth threatening the MS company with 'further action' and see if they respond to that.

I think you're right. I recently got in contact with a client company about how their contract was being treated by a notoriously bad MSing company - they were pleased to hear it and promised not to use my name with the MSing company. I have no plans to work for them again on principle as I wouldn't want to snitch on someone and keep working for them.

I realised I was unprofessional but the client companies pay (apparently) 10x what we receive, for each shop to be done and I would hate to think this was being wasted.

I don't know who the client is and I can't afford to take anyone to court.

  • Grrrr, how annoying Becles.

Dip into the MSing money pot and take them to court for it I say
  • Becles if there is any way to contact the client thats what I would do. or at least tell kern you are going to and that you will be giving them a copy of your report.
that would really fristrate me! its not even as if the staff are claiming you are lying (that would be annoying too but..) its the contractor deciding. they might as well just send a report to the client saying yes becles did it and everything was fine. growl!
  • Becles: If you don't want to work for them again, you could fill out a claims form for the Small Claims Court and send it to them (as yet unsubmitted) and explain you will be submitting it unless they pay you. Explain that they will then be liable for court costs if you win. At least they will realize you are serious when you state the report was nothing but the truth. (I did this with a magazine which didn't pay me for an article and it worked.) You don't really have to file the claim but it would at least get them worried for a week or two...
