    Hi,
There are some pub jobs on RE, states would suit a male - does anyone know whether this usually mean females are excluded or just that men are preferred.

    Jess

I think it says 'would suit a male' so that females don't complain that their delicate sensibilities were offended by all the rowdy men cheering along to the footie.

The trouble is, I'm not sure who the client is! It's some sort of body within the jewellery industry as the shops are for different chains and independant stores.

The company is based in the US so I don't know who I can complain to or take further action with.

I've already spoken to a manager at the company who said she is not submitting the report to the client as she claims they will not get paid for report where the rings are not handled

Why, for the love of God, would this company think that you had the time or inclination to sit at your computer and make a report up. Do they not think that you have better things to do with your time!!!! I think it's appaling. You gave a frank and honest account and they won't submit it because its not favourable. What was the point in doing the shop in the first place then???

And BTW if an MS company calls you up to ask you to do a job do you ask for more money or just accept the fee. GAP always up the fee anyway but I'm not confident enough to ask the others and I feel a bit cheeky. Is it the norm to ask? I suppose if they want the job doing they will offer more. Am I correct?
  • Hi Becles

Sorry to hear about your experience with this 'American Cowboy Outfit'.

Unfortunately I've also suffered at their hands having carried out 7 jewellery visits for them, all of which I was refused payment for.

I tried to reason with them but got nowhere and as my MIL was terminally ill at the time, and I was struggling to cope with everything that was going on; I let it go.

I did post a warning at the time but I guess there must be people out there who find them to be a good company who believe it or not pay, as Kern have done for me in the past just not SSS!

    Hope you get it resolved.

    Linda

I've been offered a bank job for a place where there is no branch only a cash machine. Feeling like I should just take the fee and run lol

However, has anyone else had a problem getting the fee for a job they took only to find the details they'd been given were totally wrong?

That's awful. Can I ask why they refused payment?

I've looked into the Small Claims Court but as they are based in the US so I can't do that.

Sorry to hear about your MIL.
Here I go again on my own....

I just did one yesterday where the store was closed for refurbishments. I took a photo of it to prove it was closed, and they still paid me for the visit.

What a great idea. I did one for GYP which closed down two days before. I didn`t know until I made my visit. I mailed them to let them know, they replied and told me that another MSer had got a business card from there the previous week lol !!Obviously it WAS open then!! I felt like a liar.........It appeared back on the job board for someone else to take! I mailed them again to save a wasted journey but got NO reply so the next unsuspecting MSer who took the job prob never got paid either!

  • Hi! I have a couple of questions. I did read the first post but I cant go through the 100s of posts to see if the answer is there.

    - I have a full time job.. would i be able to do this outside of hours?
    - as this is what i was after, is there any specific places that do food/clothing that i would be able to go to at the weekends/late night/after hours?

    thanks for your time!
  • RE has processed payments. I can't wait til the one after this one as it'll be a biggie!!
