  • Well pregnancy brain has finally got me. Was going into town this morning as needed to get a few bits and saw an underground sandwich job on RE so thought I might as well do it since I had to walk past it anyway. And for the first time I forgot to ask for a receipt. Had to go back and buy another one. DD was happy though she got the spare one for lunch

Timmne - glad to see you back with us xx

    Hi,

Can someone please tell me how GR works. I have been signed up with them for about 6 weeks now with no jobs offered. I have just seen on the alerts thread that they have jobs available in the Midlands (I live in the West Midlands) but there is still nothing showing on mine. Do you know how far from your home address they offer you jobs and if it is only for your town how do you add other towns without an actual address.

    Thanks

    Hiya Jksmum,

Grassroots send you an email if an assignment is available in your area - but you have to be sooo quick as GR jobs just go quicker than a flash. They are rolling out a whole bunch today as I have had a couple of alerts too - so keep checking the website - personally I find they put jobs on 3 or 4 mins past the hour.

You can increase your chances of getting a job by adding addresses - I have five. I have just looked up postcodes in areas/towns that I can get to and just picked an address - eg a Bingo hall, cinema etc.

    HTH:D
  • Hi jksmum - I had the same problem when I first joined GR. After a month of no jobs, I sent them a query email, and they replied saying that I hadn't filled in my date of birth in my personal profile, and they wouldn't offer me assignments until this was done. (Though I was sure I had already done this when I signed up!) Once I did that, I started getting job alerts. So I'd check your profile and make sure everything's filled in. :-)

This is a complete mystery to me, but let me tell you my experience. Firstly, like you I was registered with them for 4-6 weeks with no jobs showing up at all. No idea why. I did email them and got a reply saying something like they didn't know why but if I still hadn't been offered any jobs after 3 more weeks I should email them again. About a week or two after the email, jobs started appearing.

However, they weren't jobs in my local area. I had added 5 addresses, and most of the jobs were in this one town that's a good 30-40 minutes drive away and I only added it just on the off-chance that a theatre trip might come up!!! Anyway, I noticed that this one town happened to be the first in my list of alternatives. No idea if that's significant but I re-jigged the list so the closest towns were higher in the list and the furthest ones were lower, and now I am finding a handful of jobs showing up in my local town. So, maybe the order you list your alternative addresses does count? Has anyone else noticed this or is it just a coincidence?
  • I just got an email from mystery-shoppers, for a place 2 minutes from my house! Really pleased.

I keep getting emails from GR, but by the time I log in, they have gone (literally log in the minute the email comes through!)

Argh! Just filled in an underground sandwich shop job....were all ingredient available....yes.....and you have to add a comment!! So for everyone I just re-wrote the question....All ingredients were available!!

Sorry not sure that makes sense, but those questions annoy me so much!!
  • I got hit by ones like that too, why do you need to comment on a yes/no answer!!!
  • Whoa - just had two lots of good service from GAP. Giving me compensation for a bookies job I went on which was out of forms I needed and paying me for a mobile phone job even though I didn't get the name of the server as he was so horrible to me he refused to give me his name...impressed....

Thanks to everybody that replied to my query regarding the Timeshare Mystery shop. I contacted them this morning to get some clarification and it is all above board but after digging around about the timeshare company ( which are again legit ) I found mixed feelings about them so I think I will be giving this one a miss.

Don't blame you, "free" timeshare holidays are apt to be gruelling at the best of times. Thanks for the up-date. I was wondering how you were getting on with it. Glad to know it turned out to be legit. Hope they don't offer it to me. I might be tempted. I hate it when that happens.
