Does anyone else have much joy with the companies that allocate the jobs to you rather than the self-allocation ones, I've not had anything from them yet (OK, only been doing this just over a week, but still...)
No - nothing for me - and I've been doing this since February this year.
ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away :)

Has anybody done any work for Mystery-shoppers.co.uk The reason I am asking is that I have been offered a quite unusual job. I will get a phone call teeling me that I have won a holiday. I then go to a time share presentation. I do not sign up for anything and I will be given the holiday, I have to claim the holiday by post. i will then go on a weeks holiday. Go to another presentation sign up for the timeshare approx £600. Come home and claim back the deposit. will be given a very good renumaration and expenses.

I am very wary about this any comments

I've done normal jobs for them, and they've been fine with me.

This job does sound odd though. I would give them a ring and talk through your concerns and take it from there.
Here I go again on my own....

One of my mottoes in life - not just mystery shopping - is that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is! Did they email you about it or can you view jobs on their site.

Have you seen the link on the mysteryshoppers.co.uk homepage warning about scams? People are sending emails supposedly from mysteryshoppers.co.uk and they're not genuine.

    Here's the link: http://mystery-shoppers.co.uk/mystery_shopper_scams.htm

Not sure I'd feel comfortable anyway, in signing up for something costing £600  , although I guess you should have 14 days cooling off period to change your mind. Mind you, is that cooling off period will not even exist in some countries, so you could you end up potentially signing up for something and being conned?
  • I'd appreciate this info too, if you don't mind, pretty please! :D

Hi all late in from Asda. The card reading thing went on the blink tonight. Oh what fun. The shoppers had to go out to the hole in the wall outside and withdraw cash. Faces were tripping them.

Have the link for those interested in the shop I am doing tomorrow.

    It is http://servicemeasure.com

To the newbie nervous ones remember we have all been where you are now. Prepare, prepare and prepare again. I use the make a note function in my mobie as it looks natural looking at it. I note what I really must know such as names of staff, what is left and right of the shop, time in and time out, check the notes for what else you need to be accurate about..

I used to find it difficult doing descriptions so I always say if they have no name badge...depending on the scenario something like..."Did you used to go to ******Sec School OR work in Tesco OR something like that." I knew a girl/bloke there called Maureen you are very like her". 10 times out of 10 they say "No my name is Clarissa or whatever. Sounds weird typing it here but it works for me every time.

As soon as you leave the shop go somewhere nearby and jot down notes relating to your scenario for doing your report when you get home.

Make sure you have the correct shop, correct time etc as all of us here have done shops, got home to put the report on and found we did it the wrong day or time.

Above all try and relax and be just like a normal customer.

HTH and remember we are all here to help so just ask. No question is too silly to ask. And have fun doing it. Word your reports as well as you can and pay attention to spelling and grammar.

  • HP, thank you, that is a great idea for obtaining a name. Very helpful. And I'll check out that link too.
  • If it's a food/drinks visit, you're often asked to visit the toilets and I made quick notes while in there. I have shorthand I use for my own reference,

Eg: M, 1824, w, t, mb, b.e, br.h, ng would be a male, 18-24 years old, white, tall, medium build, blue eyes and brown hair without glasses.

I also do this in the fitting rooms of clothes shops. Another tip for burger joints is to pretend to be texting and add notes on your phone; you can do it as a text message and then save it to drafts.
  • Hi, i wonder if anyone can help me please? I'm supposed to be doing my first job for Bare today, but the job still shows as 'pending', and it says in the instructions not to do a job unless it says 'assigned to you'.
They phoned me a while ago and explained the scenario, and i have been able to print out all the relevant brief/ questionnaire paperwork.
So should i do the job, or should i try to contact Bare? And will they get back to me quickly? TIA

Also, someone was concerned that they were too old to be accepted as a MS for RM. I'm over 40 (just!), and i did a MS trying on shoes job for them yesterday. I've been with them for over ten years and didn't get 'put out to pasture' once i reached a certain age.
(Yes, i know my username is a bit misleading, but ChelseaOldBird doesn't have the same ring to it!) - and i'm a really young 40 year old - honest!
  • BARE can be a bit tricky...email whoever is in charge of that assignment and ask them to call you ASAP.
