You get used to hearing your own voice, and it won't bother you after a while. I've done video mystery shopping as well as audio, and I use a dictaphone for notes sometimes, so I'm used to hearing myself speak now!

Don't know how Bare work but with RE you get an audio file that you can listen to. It doesn't cost anything to download. With OC you don't get access to the recording though, so you need to make sure your notes are spot on!

Don't get yourself worried sick about things though. If you don't feel comfortable doing the work, it's best to give it up.

Despite saying I was binning RE I have taken a job for tomorrow night as it is a casino with a fab meal, drinks and money to gamble. My problem is I went into one in Vegas once and had not a clue how to play any of the games. Can anyone give me any tips or should I just play the slot machines. All the games I saw looked gobbledegook to me but all the punters looked like experts.

And I did my 2nd TNS phone rep in shop job yesterday and the rep wasn't there again. I am beginning to suspect they are psychic and know I am coming.:rotfl:

Have a look on the net for the rules and strategy guides for different games depending on what interests you.

When online casinos first launched in the UK, they used to offer hefty sign up bonuses with no strings attached. I learned how to play Blackjack on a strategy site, and then took advantage of all the sign up offers and made a hefty profit :D

Then then closed all the loop holes and put massive wagering requirements on the bonuses so it's not worthwhile now - boo!

I did a casino job for RE last year and part of it was a full tour of the casino which explained how everything worked. Other parts of the job involved asking staff how some of the games / machines worked so I wasn't expected to know anything. The job was fantastic, I got paid to do it and I walked out of the casino with a nice £50 profit and having had a really nice meal and complimentary drinks. I only wish they'd let me do another one :(

I did one of these years ago (none really near me) and I'm not a gambler.

Best advice I can give is try to go when it will be a slack time for the Casino, early evening probably.
The croupiers etc at the tables are usually friendly(ish) when it's quiet and will take the time to explain some of the games etc. It's their job to get you hooked!

I obviously don't know the scenario but if you have to gamble (or at least exchange some money for chips) then pick one game (blackjack?) and study that on-line before you go.

We had fun and a nice meal.

I'm new at mystery shopping and have signed up to nearly all of the companies on the list on the first page..

I've done one assignment for RE (which was graded as good) but there's absolutely nothing else that I can do for any other companies, I keep checking multiple times a day and simply nothing comes up.

I don't live in a city but live in a large town.. is this usual? I'm feeling really disheartened!

I would say the easiest is blackjack. You have to get as close to 21 as you can but not over. They deal 2 cards and you can only 'stick' (not take another card) if you are at 16 or over. An Ace can count as 1 or 11. So if you get a 5 and 7 then you would have to take another card. say this is a 10 you would then be bust and loose. You must also beat or draw with others on the table so the closer you get to 21 the better.

    Hope this helps.
  • I'm getting to grips with RE now and the sites I'm on generally - and how quick the jobs go!!

I thought there would be more as I live in Liverpool but maybe I'm just missing them or maybe there is less in my area?

I searched a Manchester postcode on RE and couldn't believe the amount of jobs - thought there would be more my way but maybe not!!

I'll stick to the three sites for now and build myself up and see how I get on!

In casinos I've played in you can stick at any number, its the dealer who has to get 16 or over. Also in answer to PP the croupiers are normally really friendly and will explain how to play the games - one once even let us play a few dummy games with no money just to get the gist. You can always just watch for a bit till you feel comfortable. Good luck.
