I'm sure there is - not so much of a challenge, more a "list your resolutions here" type thing.
I don't "do" new years resolutions - they normally involve dieting, which is pants anyway, and by 4pm on the first day I have given in
I have a card that says "I could give up chocolate, but I am not a quitter".......:rolleyes:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Plan for the year starts with getting the tax return nailed in time, updating the spreadsheets, sorting out a few balance transfers, getting the house totally clean and sorted out (I can't focus on anything when I'm in a mess), getting the garage(s) cleared and rid of everything we don't need, getting everything listed on Ebay at long last, and then using the money made to chip away at the debt. And losing a few stone into the bargain. Nothing much then. Maybe a long term New Year's Resolution challenge or something might work.
I would join that challenge!! I need to have a sort out - went to the library yesterday and came away with How to Declutter your house in a week, The pennypinchers' guide to living well on less, a guide to Baby sleeping, a cookbook and a couple of autobiographies. Whether I get time to read them might be another thing!!
Happy Christmas to all the pandapaws family.0 -

Last year was my first year that I ever kept my New Year's resolution - take more photos and keep them organised. It was quite a fun one though - wish I'd done it years ago. Dieting...what's that??0 -
Right, the challenge-challenge is set:

no more procrastination - time to get stuck in. (But not tonight!).
I'll be finishing work in about 20 mins so will be disappearing, probably for a couple of days.
A very merry Christmas to every one of my buddies here, hope that Santa is kind to all of you!0 -

Thanks SkintSpice! I did really well for the first few weeks, then had a holiday, an illness and a birthday, closely followed by Christmas so I gave up. I'll be away with work for a week which will involve lots of eating/drinking, so will start again properly on the 10th Jan. While I'm doing my tax return. Eek!
Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! Santa was far too generous with the panda cubs, there are mountains of toys lying all over the lounge and nowhere to put them as kids rooms are still full of previous year's gifts, so a bit of a sort out is in order. Already put a few bits on Freecycle, as I'm determined that I'm not going to fall into the 'keep it for Greg' or 'put it on Ebay' trap.
Does anyone need a car? We're about to get rid of our old one, the one that's done 197k. It's a good car, never let us down or needed any repairs, but needs an MOT (hoping it will pass) & tax soon. Too complicated to list on Ebay due to little niggles. I was just going to stick it into the motor auction but found out they take min £80, which isn't good on a car that'd probably sell for about...er...not much more than £80. I remember reading on someone's diary a while ago that they needed a car after a split with partner - can't remember who though? I'd rather give it away to someone who needs it than line the auctioneers pockets.
Adam is doing that thing where he says 'mummy I want chocolate, mummy I want chocolate' (repeat relentlessly until chocolate given - I taught him well) while I'm typing so I'm off to find some chocolate. And eat it in front of him.0 -
Well if you do end up failling into the eBay trap (private sellers only), they are doing a 5p offer this weekend.
I'm trying to stay away from your thread as I really need to do everything you have listed on your 'challenge' but don't want to put myself under the stress of having to do it because it is written down :rotfl:
Right off to grab a bottle of wine and a box of chocs...celebrating Christmas goes on until the 1st Jan for me!
Have really enjoyed your diary this year PP and thanks for keeping me motivated on my debt. Happy New Year to you and the little PPs.

Thanks Floxxie! Good to see you back around, was wondering how you were doing - how was the holiday? I saw the Ebay 5p thing, but no chance of me getting any new listings going and the new fees mean that it doesn't cost me much to list properly now anyway. Ta for the heads-up though. My personal Ebay trap refers to saying I'll list something, and it moving from room to room around the house before being seconded to the garage. No more! My local Freecycle is about to become VERY busy.0

The holiday was very...ummmm.....well we won't be going on another one until the middle child is at least 16. Let's just say that I have come back feeling more tired and ill than before I went.
I too have got together some things for Freecycle. I'm feeling very motivated in decluttering the house in 2009 ( as part of my 'pay off a stupid amount on the mortgage with no job challenge') but realise that if I decide to eBay it all, it will be moved around the house for 12 months. I was hoping not to have to think about selling stuff before the 1st but the amount of toys now covering the free space has brought it back into focus
Catch up soon!
