They give you your money back because of what their terms and conditions dictate so it effectively becomes end of contract. Of course, it depends which company you are dealing with, but here it generally stands true.0

Pricing and availability
The grand total cost of your order includes the price of the item(s) selected and delivery.
If the price increases or decreases after you have placed your order but before dispatch (and debiting your credit card) the ordered price will be honoured.
An exception will be pre-release orders. At the time of your order an estimated retail price will be shown; however as items may be ordered as much as 3 months in advance we reserve the right to change the price, which may be an increase.
For details of delivery charges please see section 'Delivery details' within 'Help'.
The availability of each item is updated daily. It would be an unusual situation for any item to become out of stock and thus delay the dispatching of your order.
There are 7 availability bands:
In stock, normally dispatched within 24 hours.
Normally dispatched within 7 days.
Normally dispatched within 14 days.
Normally dispatched within 21 days.
Normally dispatched within 28 days.
Not yet available, dispatched on release.
Not yet available, cannot accept orders.
Once all your items are in stock at our warehouse we will dispatch them to you. Please click the "Your Orders" tab to see the estimated delivery date for your order.
There may be situations where this site will sell at a lower price than a Tesco store. These lower prices will be unique to the electronic store and does not require any of our stores to sell at that price.

Well good luck to you if you get it, but it's at their discretition. I like to see a bargain just as much as the next person. And if you have the time and energy to argue with them then good for you too. Trading standards won't lock on or punish most because they can even show that they honoured erroneous sales in the past at much lower than rrp for example. They will have to prove that they abuse the get out clause then they go down for it.
Do you have any idea of how these government regulators operate? Often through slow and tedious channels. Look at Oftel, any idea on how much trouble and time it has taken to regulate BT on prices etc. Too long and still not there.
