I ordered mine yesterday morning and as yet I have not received a cancellation email from Tescos but I also ordered one from Woollies and I have received there cancellation email so still a little bit of hope0

I'm really annoyed now. I was assured that no reserve was placed on my credit card, but in fact I've checked and there is still a reserve! Even though my order was cancelled last night about 930pm!

Madmary - when did you place your Tesco order?0
-
MadMary,
read my earlier post , tesco's "reserve" the money in your account. I had to ask for mine to be removed.
Surly "reserved" is the same as actually taking the money..ie you cant spend it because its reserved.
Teso CS state its to veryfy that the details are correct and the account exists .
But IMHO its the same as taking payment isnt it ?0 -
I placed it about 1:20 yesterday (19th Nov). I have emailed Trading Standards as well.
I can't get through to Tesco customer services (what a surprise!)

EDIT: Re reserves on cards: It is not quite the same as taking the money, but it does prevent you access to that amount of credit, which if you were maxed out could be crucial! It also indicates an intention to complete the contract. Interesting!0 -
So do we actually know the earliest order cancellation that Tesco has made?
I'm hoping that they are going to honour the first 'so many' orders...0 -

This is what Boots do as well, even though they have no way of allocating stock - stock is "allocated" as it leaves their warehouse!0 -
My Tesco order is still hanging in there - by skin of it's teeth :-/ I ordered 11:55 a.m. ... no email to cancel as yet - although I ain't holding out much hope. Sitting quiet :P0

I placed 2 separate orders via Virgin for this item yesterday....they have debited my account....and today they have emailed to state that they are cancelling and will refunding my card. They tell me to allow 2-3 days for this to occur.
However, reading the T&Cs on Virginmegastores website, it quotes:
FORMATION OF THE CONTRACT
No contract will subsist between you and Virgin Retail Limited for the sale by it to you of any product unless and until you have received confirmation of your order in the form of a receipt confirming details of your order. Once the receipt has been received, there will be a legally binding contract between us.
I've had two such emails, two debits from my account, and two cancellations. There is nothing in the T&C's about Virgin not being able to supply the goods and having the right to cancel.
I will phone them Monday and see where I get to.

I'm in the same position, and emailed them first thing to point out that not only are they in breach of their own terms and conditions, but also the Sale of Goods Act as they've taken payment.
No reply yet funnily enough.0
