Wait until it's all done and hire a Rug Doctor. Worked great for us, except for the one spot where I'd put too much odour eater down which had soaked into the underlay. That bit just took a couple of months to fully evapourate berfore the chemical small went.

Restrict your pup to certain rooms. If he has a large area to roam then he'll identify core areas as those not to mess and still do it in the less used areas. Our dining room got it in the neck before I learnt to shut the door :) .

Use a proper odour eater from your pet shop. Actually, bio washing powder might be just as effective, but if you're having trouble spend that little more to get something designed to remove pet odours.

    Vacuum more often.

    Shoot the dog? :D

What floor coverings do you have in your house? I'm guessing you already do the obvious like washing the dogs bedding regularly. I'm on an eco friendly kick at the moment, so I'm using bicarbonate of soda sprinkled on the carpet 15 mins before vacuuming which seems to help a bit. You can also mix essential oils in with the bicarb if you want to to leave a bit of nice smell behind.
If you do a search, there have been other threads about getting rid of dog wee smells - can't remember what anyone suggested off the top of my head.
I do find it's an ongoing battle though - I keep asking my mum if she's sure my house doesn't pong!

i have a very old scanky carpet in need of replacing but money is stopping that (puppy too), it's embarrassing i have clean patches over it now hehe.

pup stays in the living room his bed is his training cage which is working brilliantly, its just every few days he has a little wet accident.

but on the carpet is a cream rug that looks very much grubby, i think bicarb is the cheapest to rug cleaning, i dont think my carpet could stand a rug doctor, the carpet will fall apart.

if i put lavender with the bicarb will that help keep fleas at bay, he had a few when we bought him home and soon got rid of those,

failing this i have bob martin shake n vac
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

Never use soap based products on pet urine as this harderns the crystals in the urine which cause the smells. Mop up what you can using just water then sprinkle with baking soda.

Neutadol do a carpet 'shake and vac' thing which is really good and does work.
We also have a plug-in air freshener in the hall as you walk in.

You should be using something to remove the (to humans undetectable) odour of urine/poop. If you just clean it to human standards, the dog will still be able to smell it and will continue to go to the toilet in those spots. This is vital, or so I was told, to effective toilet training. Something like this:

That's a separate issue to your home smelling.

Lots of good advice above from house training accidents.

For reducing general the general doggy smell, there are lots of things you can do.

First, (obviously) hoover and mop regularly. Look for places where fur gathers (like under sofas and in corners behind furniture). Old fur is one of the worst culprits for smells.

Groom your dog regularly, outside if possible. It gets the loose fur and dander off and is good for his skin and coat.

Wash his bedding regularly. If he sleeps on the furniture, use throws that you can easily wash.

Air your house regularly, have windows and doors open as much as you can.

With regards to fleas, the Bob Martin's and other over the counter stuff is useless. If you think you have fleas in the house you need to buy something from your vet to shift them.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

My carpet used to really stink, no matter how fast i cleaned up accidents or what i used. Eventually, i had to rip up the carpet and lay laminate.

Other things that help with the general dggy smell s washing his bed every 2 weeks. Also, i used the Glade 3volution plug in (on offer at £3.99 in B&M). Our house doesn't smell of dog anymore :o)

I find it hard to believe that your vet doesnt have a number for out of hours, My vets has an out of hours number whichs goes to a different clinic which we can use anytime.

Hope your pup gets well soon

I believe they are obligated to provide an out of hours service.

As far as OP goes - glad it was nothing serious and that pup is on the mend :T
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
