How bad are the mozzies? Olu is the one place I do want to go to in Turkey but I react quite badly from midge/mozzie bites over here so now I'm worried that it might ruin my holiday if I get badly bitten over there :o

Its so bad the local council send round smoke/fire/spray trucks, but its good that they do that isn't it:confused:

My BIL had a good few bites (but things bite him) we had to take him to the pharmacy for some ointment for them as they were a bit nasty.

I had a couple of bits there, One on my face that looked like an enormous spot.

Hubby had more than me, but less than BIL (but he does get bit).

He goes all out with the anti-mozzie stuff. He uses the body spray the 50% one, the wrist & ankle bands, he sprays the room with mozzie killer before we go to dinner & he puts in an electric plug in:o :o:o:o:o:o:o

It wouldn't put me off, but they don't bother with me much.

I hope I haven't put you off, but I've just tried to be honest.

Olu is low lying, so is Dalaman & sergiemn (sp?) & a few other areas. Other parts of Turkey are great:D
But Olu is the most beautiful.

they are bad this time of year, and will eat you alive in the evening!

Wear light clothing so they don't get trapped, and bite the hell out of you.

Drink Rakki! they don't like the smell, and it comes through in your sweat. Same for the similar Ouzo in Greece. Also stick to dark clothing in the evenings, they like white/yellow

Stock up on the electronic mozzie killers - the one with the tablets that you put on the little hot plates.

I'm lucky - no matter what the country, I've not been bitten yet! Must not like my Vulcan blood.

    Some other suggestions:

Take vitamin B tablets before you go - Brewers yeast especially - it comes out in your blood and they don't like it. Also Avon Skin So Soft is said to act as a mosquito repellant and smells very nice :)

Since I started eating slices of raw onion every night, I've had minimum trouble with the little !!!!!!s.
