BROKE - I've been there.

I admit that shortly after getting my first flat there was a time when I was broke.
One of my first Xmas meals was egg & chips.
Another time I had to sell my old record player complete with my entire collection of records just so that I could eat.
Though not a criminal, I also admit to going out at 4am to nick a pint from a shop doorway.
I once had to sell the 21st birthday present that Mum had saved hard for in order to pay rent.
Things got better over time and those memories will always be with me and I am very thankful of that. It helps put things into perspective.
Now, if anyone wants to make a bit of money there is a very easy way of doing so and I would guarantee that I could get an extra £5 within a week.
try this!
First, you would be better off with a credit card (for ease, though there are ways around that) and preferably borrow/beg/buy an old fax machine.
Then scour the bargain sites on the 'net and, as an example, buy a bargain or two from Tesco's.
Then Fax an advert to your local newspaper (Usually premium rate, so cheaper to fax than phone) offering the item for more than it cost, but show the original price.
EXAMPLE - For Sale - Black & Decker 12v drill. Brand new, in box. Unwanted Present. Original cost £40. bargain £25 (where it only cost you £20.
Not Everyone studies the websites for bargains and a huge number of people will buy from you because they percieve it to be a better bargain.
If it doesn't sell, then return it within the allowed time, to Tesco for a full refund.
Loot, Diamond Freeads, or similar would also do the same thing but I have found that the local ads are far more effective.
Best of all you have absolutely nothing to lose.
I am very proud to say that I once bought a Table saw from Screwfix for £40, used it for a year until a better one came along, and advertised the old one for £40 - And got it. Result.
I would love to hear about the results on here. Lets see who can make the most in a week.

I suppose you'd get upset if you were scammed? This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

hmm, i couldn't do it - i'd feel too guilty taking their money. It just sits uneasy with me. But good luck to you and i suppose its just what the shops do everyday - mark everything up to make a profit.0

Yes but shops cannot lie about original price. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -

Hmm, not sure it's a scam as such. advertise something honestly and upfront with the price you want for it and someone either buys it, or they don't. No arm twisting or hidden agendas.
Seems like a reasonable idea, even if it is a bit convoluted.
Not sure I could be bothered with the hassle of it for a few quid though. But then again, needs must and all that!!0 -
How honest and upfront is saying that an item which cost £20 was £40?This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Because originally it was £40. The item was reduced by the original seller to £20 when the OP bought it, but that doesn't change the fact that the original price was indeed £40.
At the end of the day, if the OP sells the item for £5 more than he paid for it, and the buyer is happy cause he has bought it for £15 less than the original asking price, surely both parties are happy?
The buyer could have saved himself a fiver yes. But most people just cannot be bothered to research prices properly in the first place. It's supply and demand, the basic capitalist principle.0 -

OK I've read the OP more carefully, I guess it's possible, but it's not for me.This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
I once gave one of my pushchairs (for free) to an old neighbour. She'd sold her one to a friend of hers for £50, but then realised her son still needed a buggy. Soon after, she swapped the buggy I gave her, with her original one, so her friend ended up with the one i'd given my neighbour. She ended up with her own buggy and was £50 better off!
I didn't sell the buggy as I thought I was doing her a favour. If she hadn't needed one i'd have advertised it in the paper. I couldn't believe she had the hard neck to tell me what she'd done though!
I've been very hard up in the past too. I still couldn't do it to someone though. I've always believed you should treat people the way you'd like to be treated yourself.0 -

Doing it To Someone?
I don't understand?
I said quote the price that it WAS and then the price you want for it.
Why is it there seems to be this 'Thing' about making money from others?
Its not YOUR job to give, for free, the benefit of your labours, is it?
I just came from another thread where the poor lass in question only had £2.00 to her name and had already borrowed £800 from friends and was in a REAL state. an extra £20 a week would make a huge diffeence to that lady.
And stupidly, someone even suggested that this was a SCAM!!
I'll have to tell Alan Sugar that.
Simply put, if this (for what ever reason), doesn't rest easy with you then you obviously don't NEED that money, so this advice is not aimed at you."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

Too much of a hurry to criticise, I guess.
