Complaint against Argos..?

Whats wrong with moving your son before they arrive that way everyone will be happy! Except you it seems
Read my other post regarding failed deliveries in the past. I work strange hours. It'd involve getting up in the middle of my "nights" sleep in order to take the bed apart.
Assuming you sleep normal hours it's like suggesting you wake up at 2:00am to take a bed apart. Would you "happily" do that?0 -

Unfortunatly the is the price you pay when you don't work normal hours and somewhere along the lines allowance have to be made in order to get things sorted out. If I were in your shoes and I wanted the bed to get fixed I would make those sacrifies as I have done in similar circumstances.
Your still making a moutain out of mole hill and wanting to take a company like Argos to SMC when they have tried to help you yes it has been an inconvenient but hey thats the way life is sometimes.0 -
I don't want to take anyone to SMC. I simply want to be re-imbursed for the expenses I have incurred due to someone else's fault and for the problem with the bed to be rectified in a sensible manner, as agreed* with customer services..
Is that unreasonable?

Is that unreasonable?
Yeah because they've tried but you've been uncooperative and unreasonable!
You've listed too many reasons now (to believe*) as to why you can't cooperate, it just seems like you're making excuses.
* no sofa, no airbed, the asthmatic kid who can't be moved or woken. One thing after the other, makes you wonder how much of it is true.0 -
the reasonable thing to do would be to get your son up earlier(your the parent) and get the broken bits off the bed ready for the delivery.
i wouldnt let my kids rule me.0 -
Their driver damaged the bed, but accidents do happen. The first mistake you made was to accept a damaged bed. It doesn't matter what the driver said, you could have refused delivery.
You could try asking Argos if it would be possible for them to deliver to you at the end of their run instead of at the begining.
Even if your son had to sleep on the mattress on the floor for a few nights, as long as you give it a good hoover beforehand, then it isn't really going to make any difference if he is 12" closer to the ground.
I'd say you don't have any grounds to take them to a small claims court as all of this could have been sorted out ages ago if you hadn't made a drama out of it. Argos aren't well known for customer service, or for their delivery service. You should have known this when you ordered if you read many of the posts on MSE. If you want good service then go to a company who has a good reputation for it.0 -
i wonder if the OP is related to mdbarber?0

I'm struggling with the not being able to sleep on a mattress for one night bit, my boyfriend is VERY asthmatic. (the slightest thing can trigger it sometimes) We moved into a house in between 2 night shifts, there was dust and debris everywhere,(and I mean everywhere) the bed was one of the last things to be delivered (it was a new one) and by the time it came, we had been up nearly 24 hours, moved house and had another night shift starting 6 hours later. So all we did was rip the plastic bag off the mattress, threw it on the floor, sheet on top and then a quilt, he seemed to survive, in fact he survived the next 3 or 4 days sleeping on that mattress on the floor until we had time the assemble the bedframe.
The little lad will probably enjoy sleeping on a mattress on the floor, for one night, it will be something new and an adventure for him.0
