    I don't have a sofa! I don't know anyone with an airbed!

This almost seem like you're putting effort into finding reasons not to be able to sort this out.

I've never known anyone not to have a sofa of some sort.

They can't run their delivery vehicles around your child's sleeping patterns.

I suspect you don't have children...!

It's important to remember that Customer Services instructed us to use the bed as-is. They therefore know that a small child is using it-we told them!

They were told that it'd take some time to dismantle!

Is it therefore reasonable to turn up at ~8am and expect the bed to be in pieces? I think not...

Eh? is there some law that I'm not aware of that says I must have a sofa or access to and emergency airbed??!

(For the record we have armchair things. A child certainly couldn't sleep on them)

So there you go. You now know someone without a sofa/airbed!

THEY couldn't wait the 30 minutes+ it would take to remove the defective parts..as they couldn't take the defective parts away they wouldn't leave the new ones!

Most companies have a delivery route and customers will have been given a "window" delivery time. If the driver has to hang around for 30 minutes+, it will knock his delivery schedule out and lead to more unsatisfied customers who have late deliveries.

When you said "first of the morning" I thought you meant tomorrow morning. In that case, the night before the rearraged delivery, hoover the floor and have your son sleep on the matress and then you can hand over the broken parts on that delivery day.

It's a simple easy solution and it saves you getting all worked up and angry about it.

Ah, yes. What I meant was the first delivery on a particular chosen day, not tomorrow!

I understand about delivery schedules! The simple solution is to drop off the new parts and collect the broken ones on return to the depot in the evening! Simple! This was even discussed with customer services first time round.

Personally I think you are being a little unrealistic.

Can you not move your child to your bed on the morning of the delivery and then dismantle the bed so when they arrive you will just have to hand over the broken parts. In business time is money. If the delivery drivers had to wait 30 minutes plus for you to dismantle the bed especially as it's probably the first call of the day that would make them 30 minutes late for all their other deliveries on that day.

Yes, in business time is money. I run a part time business so I understand fully.

That's why I suggested they drop the new parts off and collect the old ones on their return. This was discussed with Customer Services first time round. That way they don't waste 30 minutes hanging about!

    Seems sensible to me..

I assumed it must be dust on the carpet causing asthma. That set my ex's asthma off if the carpet didn't get hoovered regular.

Why does he get asthma sleeping on a matress on the floor, but he doesn't get asthma sleeping about 18" higher on a bed frame?

Maybe they don't have time to make two calls to your home to deliver and then collect the parts. It's a bit unfair making them come twice IMO.

It may also be to do with fuel costs now too, considering the price of it.

    Who said he doesn't..?

Asthma can be triggered by dust/allergens. No amount of hoovering will remove ALL allergens from a carpet. Also, dust/allergens tend to 'float' in an area a few inches above the floor. Thus risk of asthma is higher the closer you are to the floor.

    18" is far better than 3"! :)

Edit: Anyhoo, I shall contact Argos again and request (For a second time) that they drop the parts off and collect the broken bits at opposite ends of the day)
