Not unless you're Nicole Redman.... in which case the photographic evidence is pointing to a big yes.0 -

When I was young I kept myself trim to keep the admiring glances of the men - now it is to stop the attentions of the medical profession!0 -
This has been a really interesting thread to read, and it has certainly struck a chord with me. Like some other posters, I fail to understand how three people could fail to club in together and sort out the arrears. On the other hand, there is certainly a need to take responsiblity for one's own actions and so on.
I found the comments relating to the language choices very significant. It isn't something I have ever thought about but you are quite right: "fell" into debt, "fell" pregnant, "fell" into arrears. Really, a more appropriate but less approved-of choice would of course be "chose." I wonder how different the article and others like it would be if "chose" was substituted for "fell"? Then in November, I chose to get pregnant, then we chose to fall into arrears, then we chose to fall into debt. Less sympathetic and more harsh, but also far more honest! Food for thought. It's certainly something I will be taking with me today - I choose what happens to me, good and bad.

Yes indeed! I have seen several of these stories about people about to have their houses re-possessed. Nine times out of ten it has been a chapter of avoidable accidents that have led them to where they are now.
I've (only sometimes, honestly) watched the Kyle programme where there have been couples and/or girls with 'accidental pregnancies'. The conversations often go like this:-
Kyle, 'so you decided to have a baby?'
people, 'No' very indignantly
Kyle, 'you did, you chose to have a baby'
people - 'no I didn't' getting a bit cross now
Kyle, 'did you use contraception?'
people, 'no'
kyle, 'then you chose to have a baby.'0 -

Closely followed by "Well it's my right to 'ave a baybee innit? S'my body".
I try not to watch Jeremy Kyle as I end up shouting at the chavs on the stage, but it's like a car crash, if it's in front of you you just can't help looking... :mad:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Often wonder why tv promotes chavy shows. I cannot believe that anyone watched Big Brother!0

Sadly, because a huge proportion of the TV watching population is "well able to identify with them, innit!"Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

It's like The Sun newspaper pobby. 'no-one' admits to buying it, but everyone reads it.
When I was at law school there was a common room where all the newspapers were, every day. If you went in there in the evening, it was the Sun and Mirror that were dog eared and creased with many readings. Mail and Express hardly touched.

To be fair though, at least the Sun and Mirror don't pretend to be a serious factual newspaper, unlike the Mail and Express.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Crazy forum this no wonder it is so addictive, repossessions and the immaculate conception in the same thread, couldn't have made it up.0
