I assume you bought this on line.
Speak to Empire before 7 days are up and ask them to take the item back.

I purchased a laptop for my daughter on 31/12 /2007 as a late xmas present I also decided to pay an extra £65. for accidental insurance cover. In May my grandaughter spilled juice on the keyboard I telephoned the company I purchased it from and explained the situation and they said as I had not registered it with acer, accidental damage cover would be suspended for 90 days I stated that I had paid for this cover and requested to speak with someone senior who agreed that they would get the laptop collected and repair it themselves. This happened very quickly and I was supprised at the 1st class service however when the laptop arrived back the keyboard worked fine apart from 2 keys I rang the retailer and explained this and once again they arranged for its collection, they have had it over a week I rang yesterday for a progress report and they returned my call a couple of hours later telling me the keyboard is faulty and they need to order a new one from Italy asking me to pay for the keypad and they will fit it then pay me back the cost, they also told me my accidental guarantee will be void as they have fitted the part. I have made many phone calls to this company but this all seems rather murky.
Sorry for the long post hope someone can help they are supposed to ring me on monday to discuss the matter further.
Thanks in advance.0 -

The retailer is fully responsible for putting the laptop back in good condition for you. Write to them, recorded delivery, telling them that you hold them responsible and if they do not get the laptop repaired satisfactorily in a reasonable time you will take your case to the Small Claims Court.
You didn't say where you bought the laptop. Is this a national company? If so send your letter to the head office with a copy to the store.

Many thanks for the prompt reply I purchased the laptop online from MISCO in Northants. Also what happens to the remaining 30 months guarantee0 -
If you paid with a credit card you have additional protection from your card company. Write to them and ask for their help in resolving your problem.

I have been in touch with the credit card company this morning they are sending out a dispute form for me to complete. I am still not certain about the remainder of the warranty with acer if misco repair the laptop.0
