Hello,
I need some advice please. I bought a ring from Gem TV on the 16/5/07, its in the shape of a flower, but one of the stones fell out last month. I rang them today and they were of no help as its over the 6 months warranty period. Can someone please tell me if I have a case of faulty goods under the sale of goods act. I haven't use the ring that much and its not damaged.£2 saving club = £86:j
June £10 a day challenge = £0/£300 :rotfl:
Match Betting = £1910 -

Do you still have the stone that fell out? How much did you pay for the ring?

Hi all, what are the consumer rights on buying furniture? In our case, we bought some leather sofas from a retailer yesterday.
Delivery can take up to 12 weeks although they will call us beforehand to arrange it.
However, when we got home we realised one of the sofas may be a bit too big for the space we have for it in the room.
My past experience with furniture salesmen/companies has been that if you ever change your mind, even before delivery, you can't get your money back. Is this true? Do we have the right to call up and cancel the order?0 -

Phone the store today and cancel. Confirm with a recorded delivery letter. There is no reason for the store to object or to retain any of your money as they would not have placed the order over the Bank Holiday.
Did you pay for the goods in full and how did you pay?

Hello Art,
Thanks for your reply, no I don't have the stone, did ask about a replacement stone and they have none. I bought it by credit card for £90 + p&p £5.95. Do you think I have a case. You can see from the ring that it is not damaged and look perfect, so the stone should not have fallen out if set properly.£2 saving club = £86:j

OK, take the action I suggested initially. get on to the store as quickly as you can, today if possible.
If you have any problem and you paid by credit card notify your card company and ask them to help. If you paid by cheque simply stop it.
I assume you still want to make a purchase from this store in which case they can simply amend the order for you but make sure you get this in writing from them. This way they still have an order and you will still get some furniture.

Firstly, as the value was under £100 we can't ask your credit card company to get involved.
You should write to the company rejecting the goods as being 'unfit for purpose and of unmerchantable quality' and demand a refund. Tell them if they refuse you will take them to the Small Claims Court.

I bought something online over 5 weeks ago for very attractive price (due to mistake on the website).
After few days I was emailed the item I ordered is not in stock and asked whether I want to wait two weeks or cancel my order. In the meantime the price has been changed to retail (far more than the one when I placed the order).
After couple of weeks I contacted them asking whether the item is back in stock, they said - no.
Week later, same question, the item was supposedly on the way t their shop.
Week after that, again when I contacted the shop I was told that because the price was incorrect they will not sell me that, however they will offer me "promotional" price which is not attractive at all.
Where do I stand?Information - never enough, questions - always too many, decisions - not always the best

Between a rock and a hard place, as they say. It seems they realised their mistake and are not prepared to sell at the incorrect price. You may have a case if they emailed a confirmation to you showing the original price. Do you have such an email?
