But isn't another home far more desirable for this particular pup?
At least most pups are adoptable - especially if fostered first to get over the housetraining issue - we all know that 2 weeks of intensive work should fix this so there is hope for the pup - but preferably in another home...
I hope So MrsT. The pup I fostered before Christmas, same circumstances really. Pup not house trained and small children in the home. Pup ended up being banned to the back yard, no training, no interaction with humans. Took a few months to socialise him and get him up to speed but hes a wonderful dog and pet now.
Im hoping the op will either come back here and get the help she and the family need with this pup or go find training classes - or give the pup up before too much damage is done. Pups really do need a good start in life and those first six months are crucial0 -
You lot are terrible, this place has become like the houses of parliament, any excuse to say "i told you so" and bicker amongst yourselves like children, you can't all be right all of the time you know, im amazed how quickly people get judged on this forum when virtualy nothing is known about them, it can't look good to new forum members can it?
To be fair, is it any surprise that we are getting a little cross at hitting our heads on a brick wall? We're all here because we love animals/our pets (no matter how daft they drive us sometimes!) and the op seems to be deliberatley not only ignoring the advice she keeps asking for but then throwing both that and accusations and sarcasm back in peoples faces? It aint over til I've done singing....0 -
Actually kaya I think you are being harsh here.
The Op posted way back asking for advice. Way back when she was looking for a pup. She was given advice then which she obviously chose to ignore and went off and got a pup. Sure enough shes back in a week saying the pup is a nightmare and asking for help.
oh, you are right - I didnt realise this thread was the same person
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=728627
funny that in the second one (talking about normal puppy behaviour) she says "we have both had dogs before, but not one with all the problems"
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=12080893#post12080893
but in the first thread she says her OH will not consider looking at rescue dogs as he has had bad experiences of rescue dogs in the past - wonder what the truth is here, and why this person keeps posting asking for advice, but then rejects any advice given?
I wonder if it is a collie, like she was looking to buy (as a birthday present!?!) - if so it should be a clever little dog, but will be bored witless if its confined to the kitchen all day.
In the end it sadly looks like she has may have bought another dog to put into the already overcrowded rescues, despite constuctive advice from experienced dog owners.
And to Kaya - I do not think anyone on here is terrible, many posters on here have contributed time and effort in giving the OP help and advice on her various threads, all of which has been rejected, to the detrement of the poor dog she insisted on buying. Do you really expect us to say nothing?0 -
I have not been back to this thread as I have a life so don't need to spend the whole time on MSE!!!
I hope everyones glass houses are still intact or you'll all be getting soaked with the amount of stones you have been throwing!!!
I wont be posting any further on this board or MSE as a whole as I find your attitude horrendous!!
MRSTINE as a board guide I thought you would understand the rules of MSE where you are 'meant' to be kind and supportive' to users!! In your case I guess you just get to ignore the rules!!0 -

I assume then you haven't read my signature and the board rules and explanations? Although I fail to see where I haven't been "nice" on this thread?
I've pointed out that your pup will be better off elsewhere if you are not willing to put in the training. I've tried to clarify some of the solutions others have posted for you, and I think frankly at the moment you are not in a position to own a dog - be it adult or puppy.
If you think I'm harsh then you should go to a dedicated animal forum and post the full history... I can assure you that they will take you to pieces and they won't be as polite as the other posters on this thread.
I HAVE a rescue dog - I've posted about her several times on here. I have a dog whom I got with a LOT of behavioural problems and I've spent countless hours, a LOT of money and more love and energy than you can imagine in the last 2 years... why? Because someone didn't address her problems as a pup. I am happy that just about the only training she HAD had was that she was house trained. I've also fostered dogs and I've worked with rescues... I know exactly how much hard work it is to deal with dogs once they are out of the teenage stage and these problems have been allowed to escalate. Do I know everything? No, of course I don't. But frankly I don't think you do either.
I do sincerely hope you either return the pup to her breeder or hand it over to a rescue. Right now you can't cope with both a puppy and a baby. I don't want puppies - why? Because I can't give that care to a puppy. Dealing with adult dogs is a different kettle of fish and one I feel comfortable handling. There is no "shame" in not being able to handle a puppy - especially not when you have a very young baby - but refusing to recognise that you are not only can't but won't put in the time and effort needed... stop feeling victimised and think about what that puppy needs.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Yet you spent a few hours here sunday night and even posted on other boards?
And MrsT hasnt been anything other then supportive as far as I can see - as has everyone on this thread
Support isnt always about hand holding and saying "there there, dont you worry" its about giving good sound solid advice - which may not be what you want to hear but its whats best for the pup.
You whole attitude has been aggressive from the start. Its been obvious to all of us who have put in the time and effort to answer this thread that you are just not interested in doing whats right for the pup, so is it any wonder that some of us are openly questioning your motives?
I pray that you at least have the sense to take the wee fella to the vets to get him checked over as once again I shall say that 9 poos a night is NOT NORMAL and needs checking, you could have a very poorly pup on your hands (worm infestation is painful and can kill).
I also hope that somewhere along the line some of the advice we have given time and time again starts to sink in and you do what you should be doing with the pup - or admit that perhaps you dont have the time, patience or want and give him up for rescue.
At the end of the day this thread isnt about you - its about a puppy - one that deserves a good start in life0 -

How dare you? You have been offered advice, tips and support from the very start (all of which I might add would have cost you hundreds of pounds in trainers/puppy classes etc) and despite your initial tantrum people still continued to offer support to you. Just because we don't type what you want to read doesn't make our attitude 'horrendous' it just means that in your case, the truth clearly hurts.
I, as well as many others I suspect, chose my words carefully in my initial reply to you as I could see no point further upsetting you - However, I don't take kindly to having well intentioned advice and my time and effort thrown back in my face with such bad grace and ill manners as yours. For the sake of that poor puppy who lets face it, frankly deserves someone a lot better to look after it take it back to the breeder or pray that a rescue centre will take her and hope that the damage already done can be repaired. It aint over til I've done singing....0
