5p listing day

On Thursday 3rd November 2005 (local UK time), sellers listing in Auction-style format in an eligible category, will pay 5 pence (£0.05 GBP) insertion fee.

Thursday 3rd November 2005 between 00:00:01 GMT and 23:59:59 GMT

Only listings in British Pounds Sterling on eBay.co.uk will qualify for the 5p insertion fees. All listings must be auction-style listings or auction-style with Buy It Now (but see below).
Any item previously scheduled to go live on Thursday 3rd November 2005 will qualify for the 5 pence insertion fee promotion.
If you re-list an item on Thursday 3rd November that had previously closed without a successful sale, it will qualify for the 5 pence insertion fee promotion.

Any item listed with Fixed Price (Buy It Now) format
Items listed in the Automotive (Cars, Classic Cars, Motorcycles or Other Vehicles) and Properties categories.
Multiple-Item Listings (also known as Dutch Auctions).
Identical listings that do not comply with our Duplicate Listings policy.
Shops Inventory Format listings.
Any item listed on 3rd November 2005 but scheduled to start after the promotion has finished will NOT qualify for the promotion.
Only the basic eBay listing fee will be reduced to 5p. All other eBay selling fees will still apply, including but not limited to Final Value Fees, Optional Reserve Price fees and all listing upgrade fees such as Bold or Highlight. For full details see eBay fees.
Members listing with the auction-style format but choosing to add the Buy It Now feature will still be charged the Listing Upgrade Fee for Buy It Now.

If the item is listed in 2 categories, the insertion fee will be calculated as 5p multiplied by 2 ie, 10 pence.
If you revise a qualifying listing created on 3rd November at a later date, you will be charged the normal insertion fee, NOT the 5 pence promotional fee.
If the listing qualifies for this promotion, the "sell your item" form will show that a discounted insertion fee of 5p has been charged.

That's my main concern with this. It would very easily catch people out

Me thinks eBay could be struggling a bit, as they don't usually have promotional offers at busy times and this time of year is regarded as possibly the busiest. Maybe they have decided to have a promotional offer due to the recent bad publicity in the press and on television?

Very good point. Either way, I still hate eBay for its charges.

I wouldn't be surprised if next year they start charging for the use of "*" in item titles and description.

Oh and a "proportional" charge dependant on the height and wdith of images you post. grumble... grumble... grumble...

They usually go for about one offer day a month on average, sometimes it's cheap listing, sometimes its free gallery etc.

This is normal and it was due about now and in fact my son had his stuff out that he wants me to sell on Sunday and made ready just in case the offer day was this week.

I am concerned too. Does this mean if I revise the price or duration of a listing at a later date, I would be charged the normal insertion fee??

That's correct. If you make any changes at all to your auction, even adding an extra bit of text or something, then you will be charged the full listing fee.

Ebay brought this in a year or so ago as a lot of sellers were listing blank auctions all day and then going back in at their leisure and adding the correct text and photographs.

Thought it was a bit harsh that if you change something slightly they charge you the full fee but you have to agree with it because of what Soo said, its a shame though.
