I have just signed up as well, and thought the earlier parts of this thread were really helpful, in terms of suggestions, etiquette etc. I can imagine this is very addictive, and I will certainly be checking before I make any significant purchases.Unsecured Debt [STRIKE]11,000 ish [/STRIKE]Feb 08 ok honestly more or less 12,000 and no more Credit available
Dec 09 4,100ish -waiting for the credit card bill,
I look forward to getting the bill through the post now.0 -
barongreenback - saw one of your reviews on dooyoo last night.
Does anyone else stick to opinions in writing theirs and leaves out the facts specs, ingredients, etc. (which I feel you can get from the manufacturer/retailer website)?0 -
mattygroves wrote: »I did rate it. Because you asked, I will give my opinion - like Freddy says, please note, this is JUST my opinion - it's not from the PTB, it is not a list of dos and don'ts - it's JUST my view.
THE GOOD
It's certainly not abusive in any way - it's not copied, it's not just 150 words, it ticks all the 'not abuse' boxes. You won't get this review deleted for abuse.
It's reasonably well written. Spelling is accurate, it looks like it's been proofread, and you clearly have a grasp of capitalisation and punctuation (yay - that's one of my pet peeves). You do, however, really seem to like your exclamation points
THE NOT SO GOOD
I agree with Freddy - I'd like more than just a list of inmates. There is very little real insight in this review, and it assumes an intimate knowledge of Big Brother. I am not suggesting you should explain Big Brother as if the reader comes from Mars and had never seen it, but some idea as to what makes Celebrity BB different from BB (it's certainly not the fame of the inmates - I've hardly heard of them lol), what has changed this year as compared to previous, and maybe even predictions for what will be different or interesting about this crop.
I rated U, though I really did debate between U and SU. But, as I say, this review follows the T&Cs, and should not result in your suspension or the review's deletion.
Keep in mind, I'm only giving this much feedback because you asked - this is not meant in any way to be a personal judgement or slight, and it does not come from dooyoo, it comes from me. And always remember, YMMV.
Cheers.
(not sure why my earlier post was deleted??)
Thanks for the opinion's guys.
I have just been reading and rating the past few days to get a bettter understanding of whats a good review (the pennies soon add up from this too though!) but will be writing a couple of reviews this weekend so will take into account what you have said.0 -

What did your earlier post say?
BTW (as I've already made a grammar point earlier today), you've a couple of apostrophe errors here - one missing apostrophe, and one there that shouldn't be.
opinions is plural, and so shouldn't have an apostrophe, whilst what's a good review should have an apostrophe (the whats) as that's a contraction of what is.
I'm sure this is just a typo, and I'm sure you know...but better only has two Ts. lol.
Again, this is not directed specifically at you RaksP, but using good grammar and spelling will get you better rates, and more readers, and therefore ultimately more money.
Cheers

I try to, whever possible. However, every review (and reviewer) is different so if it's important to you e.g. "Nokia claim the battery life on standby is seven days, but I have to charge my phone every night", then by all means include it in your review. What I will say is that I don't just list ingredients, tech specs, tracks on a CD etc. and any time I do use "factual" information, it's usually in context with my personal usage of product or service.
Again, I cannot stress this enough: if you have ANY questions at all, ask any one of the guides. Send them a PM on Dooyoo. They want you to get in contact and ask questions, even if you think it's a silly question.
Also, I've been fairly scathing in my comments here towards those that appear greedy, but Dooyoo members do want more members to take part fully in the site - write, rate, nominate, report abuse, because that makes the site successful and keeps it going for those of us that enjoy it, so everyone wins!0 -

Yes, yes, YES! And regarding lists and factual (rather than subjective) information, I'm with Freddy here too. I am writing a review even as we speak (in my own category, as it happens, but that's besides the point) on a medicine. I'm mentioning the side effects, but specifically in the context of which ones affected me (and then just mentioning that there are others, and what they might be) - you all can read the product leaflet yourself, you don't need me to read it to you. What you do want to know is how that medicine affected me, whether I recommend it, does it work, and is there anything specific you should know before taking it yourself. You don't need a list of inert ingredients and measurements of the box.
Please, please, please feel free to ask me, to ask Freddy, to ask barongreenback, to ask cmh - any of us. We're here to help - we just get frustrated by members writing reviews literally (I checked) ever 7 minutes. These are 200 words some of which (not all to be fair) have appalling grammar, spelling and style. They are factual rather than opinion based, and tell the consumer next to nothing he cannot find on the manufacture's own site, or on the box, or whatever.
Give back to the community, and it will give back to you.
I beg you. Please.0 -
Are you volunteering my services again, Matty?!
No, seriously. Please let us know if you have any questions. I know we've answered some here but we can also answer on Dooyoo. Noone will object to regular output that's good...but only the members can make it good!0 -

I just want to clarify that I am not a Guide, however, I have been writing reviews on Dooyoo for many, many years and like to think that I know a thing or two and can help out on aspects regarding review writing and pretty much anything site-related.0 -

Yah - it's not just guides that can help - we guides are not paid to guide, and we're not the only folk who can help. Experienced members like Freddy (who has guided in the past) and indeed, dooyoo themselves are more than happy to be contacted and to give feedback.
