You have to have a UK address in order to claim the rewards. You can still write if you're not from the UK but the T&Cs of the site say that you have to be from the UK to be rewarded. You can still earn dooyoo miles but they would need to be donated to charity.

    Hope this helps.
  • Something that gets lost a lot when non-UK residents sign up for Dooyoo is that, even if the Dooyoo Powers That Be allow you on the site, most reviews still have to be written with the UK consumer in mind. That's your target audience.

I thought that dooyoo had some other websites that weren't based in the UK. I think if you go to dooyoo.com then they have some sites for other European countries but I'm not sure how they work or what the rewards are like for them.

They have a German site, though on the German site, you are expected to write in German, and in good German (just like you should write in good English on the English site). Dooyoo are based in: dooyoo Europe: Deutschland - España - Italia - France - I got all this information from the bottom of all dooyoo pages.

Ciao has sites in several countries, including Germany and the US (and other European countries). Epinions is US based. Qype has French and German, I think.
  • Hi all,

I am a little worried after reading some comments on here. I signed up last week to dooyoo because it was something I like to do between my evening job doing deliveries and when it gets a bit quiet I can review films and games mostly.

I have done 20 reviews already since friday and now I am a bit worried that I have done to many and I will be removed from dooyoo. Is this likely? Most of my reviews now tend to be a plot if its a film and what I think of the it and if I would recommend it to anyone.

I write in word and do spell check and proof read it before posting. I also read other peoples reviews and rate them accordingly and have never revenged rated.

    My ratings so far are;

    Ratings Received: 105
    Very useful 32
    Useful 63
    Somewhat useful 10
    Not useful 0

So it shows me that Im doing ok but could do better. Which is great considering its my first time on the site.

Am I ok with what I am doing? I wont lie I did join to earn extra money but now not so much I am actually enjoying the reviewing and reading reviews and dont want to be removed.

Pistolpov, looking at a couple of your reviews, I would rate them U or SU, because there's very little of your actually experience of the film, most of the review is the plot with a tiny paragraph saying whether you like it or not.
Moving onto a better place...Ciao
  • In terms of rates, they seem fine. You have a spread of rates, which I expect to see. On average, though, you only have around 5 rates per review which is on the low side... good members can get upwards of 30 on a review and even higher.

Are you reading around the site? Ideally you have to give back at least as many rates as you get, but preferably more. It doesn't matter who you rate (I see MSE members advocate this "read who rates you" method, but I think this is reactive rather than pro-active and somewhat clique-y).

Ignore the 150 word limit. That's not an indication of how long reviews should be... ideally any review should be as long as you need to tell us what you think of a product or service without superfluous padding and waffle. If you need 450 words to tell me about a film, fine. If you need 900, then that's fine too.

    Hope this helps.
  • Fiver29 thanks for your reply, you are not the first person to say that so that is defintely something I need to improve on in the future.

Camp Freddy thanks for your reply, I am still learning and thank you very much for your advice. I will start reviewing more people.

Im hoping in a month or two my reviews are all Very Useful or Useful. As they say practice makes perfect.

It is all in the practice. The more you read other reviews, comment and write yourself the better you will get. There are very few new members who do not get SU's on their first reviews, I know I did. The VU's and crowns come with time for most of us. It sounds like you have he right attitude so good on you.
