someone said they were nominating me for a crown yesterday! I hope they actually clicked that nominate button though.

Does anyone know how the nominations work? do I have to be nominated by more than one person?
  • It depends. The better the review, the more likely you are to get more than one nomination. Evrry nomination gets looked though, and the final decision is made by DooYoo team. So you can get crowned from 1 nom, or 15. if they
are on the fence whether or not its crownworthy (opinions, as with anyone, can vary), and a guide has nommed you though, it apparently carries slightly more weight.
budget meals can be good meals
  • Given the massive amount of poor quality rating that's going on around the site recently, and given past announcements by dooyoo, people claiming that they'd nominated you are generally telling fibs. If you want a better idea of the quality of your review, it's best to see how the guides are rating. Their rates tend to be more accurate. Or get your wife/husband/significant other to simply nominate your work. Job done! :T

I jut logged on to find this very unpleasant message:

    "
Hi there, I noticed you gave this review of mine a useful rating.

As this review has already got a crown and it only has Very Useful ratings, I believe this was in response to a useful I gave you. This is what I would call a revenge rate and I do not tolerate this.

Please remove this rating and do not rate any of my reviews in future.

    I appreciate your assistance"

OK - time to step out! I've been reading here, hitting my head on the table, and generally thinking arrrgghhhh...

You have the right and ability to rate how you see fit as long as the review is honestly rated. Just because something has a crown doesn't mean to say that it must be very helpful. If you found it OK but not brilliant you have every right to say.

A now, sadly, dormant member had a great example for this: When she travelled she took her dogs and so needed to know whether pets were allowed. Any review that didn't mention this could not be very useful to her. It didn't mean that it wasn't very useful to the majority of people though.

You rate according to how useful the review was to you (within reason - clearly if you are an expert on the product in question you might not have learned anything but if it contains everything (or most) that you think important then that should do to make it hypothetically VU).

Best advice in this situation - do ignore the opinions of the member concerned - they lose out financially and you save yourself the hassle....

[damn - cover blown - cmh4135 also a guide on Dooyoo and more than happy to answer questions or give advice - I tell it straight though!] :hello:
  • I joined last week and think I have now got the hang of what to do / not to do. Next thing is to clear the decks and find something to review.
    No longer half of Optimisticpair

  • I had never heard of DooYoo before I read this thread but it looks like it could be a pretty useful place so I've registered.

It's also quite a bonus that I can earn cash for writing reviews. Could anyone give me a rough idea of how long it would take to build up £50 worth of points if I were doing only 1 or 2 reviews a week?

    Hi mate (waves)!

As cmh4135 said you rate how you damn well please, if I kicked off over ever U I got I would be flouncing over to profile pages every five minutes to moan...no. As long as you are rating what you think a review is worth damn everyone and anyone asking or demanding you to change it is abusing the site IMO. Block their messages and don't give them the satisfaction of the 1.5p per read in future.
  • That all depends on the quality of your work. A good review can earn upwards of £2 per review (50p post plus £1.50 Crown bonus) as well as any reads you get.

And of course you will get more reads if you read other members reviews before posting yours.
