Try SAGA pet ins, yes i know u have to be 50, but you can always insure it in say parents name.
People with old pets will not get re-insured, M&S know this!0 -
Its really making me wonder what the premiums will be next year if this is happening to so many people. If they up the premiums by this much then, of course, I will have to cancel and pay out for the eye drops myself. I hope this gets looked into by the financial authorities. It can't be right can it?0

To an extent they can charge what they like fortheir insurance and you can vote with your feet by changing. Howwever I'm sure they're also aware that one critical difference with pet insurance is that for continuing treatment of an existing condition or for older dogs you have to stay with them as no-one will take you on.
They seem to have doubled peoples premiums while at the same time imposing an excess so its a win both ways for them.
Mine was doubled and had the excess removed and I had never claimed on it so it's not a result of me costing them money.
Id be interested to know if there is something you can do about it - other than shaming them with bad publicity.

Yes, I had a look on Moneysupermarket, but wasn't impressed - as you say there were a lot of non-lifetime and E&L policies, and they have had a bad review elsewhere.
Thanks for the tips to check out AXA, NFU and Halifax - I suppose that I will just have to check them all out myself, unless MSE Martin can design a proper comparison tool...0 -
Just had my M&S renewal for my 1 year old dog and my increase is about 6%. Plus of course they have done away with the no excess clause, so really it's more like a 12% increase. So, not as much as some of you but I reckon it will ramp up as he gets older!
The vet fees is the area where most of the policies differ.
I have looked around and only a few alternative companies will pay out per year rather than per condition (Halifax and Petplan have that option and they have quoted me more).
There is no doubt in my mind that this policy has better cover but a crystal ball is needed to tell if it is worth the extra premium! The problem with insurance is that you never know how good it really is until you have to make a claim - and I pray I won't need to.0 -
My cat insurance with M&S has jumped up from £8.80 (odd) per month to £12.56 per month!!!! This is staggering and nearly as much as I pay for my car!!!
What to do? What to do? Any suggestions and is anyone else going to change? I really do begrudge a hike like that:mad:Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
