Hi i'm looking for pet insurance and halifax has come out quite good for what we need. Does anyone else have this and have you had any problems with it so far?
  • Yes I have their insurance for my 3 cats - never claimed actually. Just about to renew-done a check on website and they came up very competitively priced.

We've got Halifax for our lab puppy. Very competitive when we checked out quotes and still competitive if she was 8 years old instead of 4 months.

Haven't had to claim but they're backed by AXA and not E&L.

As with all of the cheaper lifetime policies, there is the risk of an M&S-style price rise in the future, but at least you'll have saved for the first few years. Actually, I'm not sure how much of the M&S increase was a bait-and-switch and how much was due to huge claims arising from their zero excess policy.

    Found this on another board:
Just thought I'd also let you all know this: AXA currently underwrite the M & S policy. At the end of this year AXA will be pulling out of that scheme and M&S will have to find another insurance partner. This may mean you find your M&S renewal premiums increasing somewhat.

  • Thanks all, i'm going to go with Axa, it's a set £50 excess & seems to be for life £7,000 a year, it's around £30 cheaper a year too. I reckon I can pay fopr her arthritis myself, she's doing well so far & I pay for her meds myself anyways, ty all .. oo any experience of Axa?
  • Happened to me last year - only way I could get around it was to apply as a totally new customer [unofficial advice from M & S employee on the receving end of my 'phone rage!] - and it worked, I saved £160.00 on the annual renewal [5 pets, varying ages].

I sent letters and complained mightily, all ignored. Why do they dump on existing customers?

BTW has anybody received a response from them to a written grouch on any subject?

What worries me now, is 3 of my pets are bordering on old codger status and
the premums and excesses are going to rocket wherever I go.

I just looked at the link to the lab forums & the bit about Axa & they seem great, less that M&S & my cat is 9 1/2yrs now. It was interesting to read that they're pulling out of underwriting M&S so premiums may go up for M&S
  • my 2 shar pei"s are insured with more than and i have never had any problems, hope this helps
  • Hi my colleague has a Shar Pei and said tha argos was the only one that insured him, not sure how much.

  • So many of us have been, are and will be shafted on this M & S pet insurance. See UKTigerlily post 'M&S Insurance Renewal' elsewhere on this pet forum - think it was 19/11/07 - and the replies from quite a few folk, myself included. If u get a good alternative, please post.
