from what i recall, their insurance doesnt offer lifetime cover, so i wouldn't advise going with them. please do check though, as i'm not 100% sureI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I don't believe M&S do nil excess any more.
I'm also getting my puppy on saturday and I think I'm going to go with Halifax Pet Insurance.0 -
Hi, Can anyone advise please. I have been with petplan for now 4 months and havn't made any claims. When I was first looking around it was between petplan and marks and spencers. I'm currently on the budget plan with petplan, not sure if I can cancel with petplan until the 12 months are up but really would like to go with the marks and spencers cover but when I just try and go for a quote there is no option where it states where there is a nil excess it will only allow me to choose from £50, £75 or £100. Is this right? should there be a nil excess showing up?
Thanks any help would be appreciated.0 -
this thread is really handy - can it be made Sticky???
I am considering halifax - I reckon £1000 might be enough for many eventualities and will only cost me just over a fiver a month.
My last doggy developed diabetes in the last year of her life, had quite a few tests, treatment etc plus caninsuline and this cost less than £1000 altogether - prior to this she had never really needed to go to the vets and she was 15... I now have another little crossbreed female (which seem to be the hardiest variety of dogs - small, mongrel, female) and think I will go with the cheaper £1000 cover - if any treatment came over the £1000 I would just have to supplement it myself.0 -
I have my year old dog insured with E & L for about 8 months now.Can i cancel midway through the policy. any advise before i ring them incase they bombard me with incorrect info on it. After reading this i will go with a more reputable company.
You can cancel any time, but whether they will refund you any part of the premium is another matter. Make sure the policies overlap though so you don't find yourself without cover. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -

Marks and Spencers have stopped the no excess option for both existing customers and new ones :-( They have also massively hiked some of their premiums again this year. You might be better off staying with PetPlan. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
My kitty has turned 8 this year and the insurance has gone up to £8.69 per month with a £49 excess with Animal Friends Insurance.
I've just had a look on the moneysupermarket and the cheapest they come up with is with E&L at £7.60.
I ahve found another site (Healthy-Pets.co.uk) which only wants £6.34 for the Gold Cover! Are they a bit dodgy or something?
I've never heard of them before.
Animal Friends are also underwritten by E&L.
I don't know anything abouy healthy-pets, but they can't be any worse than AF/E&L and they are underwritten by Axa which is a good sign. It depends on the policy details really. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
FYI,
I have just noticed that Churchill are offering £40 cashback for all pet insurance policies wholly completed online, via Quidco.0 -
After chatting the vet this morning who wants to do various nerve blocks tests on my horse to find out exactly where the pain is, I rang my insurance company to get a claim form.
The vet mentioned that if it turned out the problem is the same as he was ill with last year, its unlikely the insurance will pay out again. When I spoke to insurance company they confirmed this. Arrghhh. However they are sending claim form out anyway as the lady (who seemed helpful) said its better to attempt to claim.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I can pay for his tests/treatment from my savings but I'd rather the insurance company paid - otherwise what do i pay them premiums for!?=====================================

Sounds likely we had insurance with E&L , couldnt get them to pay anything ! DDs friend had a horse who kept injuring his legs , once they had made a claim on a particular leg that was it no subsequent claims allowed0
