It might be useful if those of you with new renewal quotes, especially AXA, say which part of the country you live in to see if there is any kind of pattern to large hikes. Also might be useful to say breeds as that could easily have a bearing.0

i think £5 a month more is a lot, still looking for reviews on other companies0

HMC - I only meant that compared to some it doesn't seem like a lot. Of course any increase is unwelcome. Mine jumped more than that when I was with Marks and Spencer, and my dog is younger than yours. In two years it doubled.0

yes i agree any increase is not good. not sure what to do really, it will renew on the 1st dec unless i find another

There is an RSPCA near me and I am quite sure they are used by people on benefits and welcome donations. But you could call and check.0

I have also just received my renewal from AXA direct. I was pleasantly surprised that the renewal is only £162. Last year's premium was £147.
I was expecting a huge hike after reading that some policies have almost doubled. I also had to make a large claim earlier this year.
Thanks for posting I'm with Axa it's good to hear of reasonable price increases.
As someone posted before maybe you could tell us breed, age of your dog and rough location so people can get an idea of what they are making big hikes on.

I live in North Tyneside area and have a 2 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
My increase is from £147 last year to £162 this year. My Excess is £75 - the same as last year.0 -
I had my GSD dog covered by Marks ans Spencer and changed to Animal Friends. What a mistake, it saved me £10 per month but sadly they have been shocking. My dog recently feel over whilst jumping and damaged his leg. Vet carried out the operation having spoke with the insurance comapany to make sure they would cover the costs. I was given the OK and had a £3000 operation. When the claim was posted to AFI they asked for my dogs medical history. I posted all the details. 2 weeks later they refused to pay stating that i had taken my dog to the vets 4 years ago with a bad leg which i had not told them about. I explained that this was an unrelated problem which was dealt with 4 years earlier. Be very carful when buying insurance for pets and stick with the big firms, Petplan & Marks and spencer. They will try anything to avoid paying. Use google and see how other people review the firms.0
