thankyou for the help
it seems axa is the best value for money
and if i resist buying 2 magazines a week it will pay for the insurance lol0 -
Wow!
I just ran dummy quotes for my boy cat on Axa based on my current London postcode and the new one in NE England and realised that when I move out of London the premiums will almost halve for the same level of cover!
£134 for London
£76 for the North East
Everything else was the same except the postcode.
Guess I'll be changing insurance for him the moment I move! :TMy first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

wow excellent!
i had a similar situation here in London, moving the cats from postcodes N1 to EC1 - saved myself £7 per cat! petplan didn't want to reduce the premiums at first, but i wrote them a strong letter and they did eventually!
remember that anything your boy has seen the vet for will be excluded from the new policy though...even if you didn't make a claim for it x0 -

Thanks Lois. I'm going to have to have a good look at the policy to see if this includes the standard health checks all strays get when they first see a vet after being rescued, things like worming, flea treatments, malnutrition and so on. No good having the policy if virtually everything he might suffer from in future is excluded because he needed a thorough checkup when I took him in.
If that works out ok then it gets even better. :T
At London prices insuring the girls wasn't remotely financially viable because of their pre-existing conditions. I was saving the equivalent of the premiums for them instead.
With the new location prices I'll be able to afford to insure them for accidents and unrelated illness and still save enough to pay for the ongoing treatment for their existing conditions.
This will be such a relief if it all works out ok!My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Hi guys,
I'm looking to insure my 5yr old mongrel, he's microchipped, and neutered, but i'm getting quotes for £300+
The cheapest so far seems to be Sainsburys, and given the double nectar points for 2 years + £40 cashback, it seems really appealing, BUT no-one i know has had any dealings with them! My parents use M&S and they have been fantastic but i can't afford them. My nan has just taken out a policy with Sainsburys but she's only had it 2 weeks and hasn't had to put a claim in.
Does anyone have any experiences for me???????????Debt@LBM1=£4050 1st DFD 27/08/09Debt @LBM2 =£14,469.97 2nd DFD 14/03/2018 :T

I have just taken out a policy with axa for my cats but have not kept up to date with the vacinations. I had intended to use homeopathic remedies however axa are one of the co. that does not accept them as vaccines. I do not know whetheer to start up their vacinations again or to continue with out them. Obviously I wont be covered for anything that the vaccines would have protected against, but I do not know whether it would be invalid anyway s they have not had them continuously throughout their lives. Both cats are nearly 80

My Noah is rescue and therefore nobody knows what vaccinations he has had. Cats Protection started from scratch and then he had a bad reaction, so will not be having any boosters on the advice of the vet. AXA were fine about that, I'd speak to them and explain the situation, find out what is excluded.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Not in pet insurance but I have house insurance with Sainsburys and they've never been a problem. I think they are one of the companies that give you a limit per condition though - so you can claim up to that amount (£7000 from memory but double check) over what ever time period but once you hit it you'll be on your own. Also check what happens to the excess when they get older - some companies will take a percentage of the total claim.......0 -
You could have a look at a company called PetGuard. Im just about to insure my 4 month old GSD & Ive got it down to either AXA or PetGuard. (£20p/m or & £16p/m - rounded up figures).0

I recently signed up with the pet insurance offer from petplanet for my Toller (Alfie) -- their prices were good and it is underwritted by Allianz (the same people who do Petplan) so I'm confident they will be OK. They brand the product as "Planet Direct Pet Insurance" (Google that phrase finds it)
So far all has been handled very professionally -- I will post again if I have to make a claim!0
