conversely i have had a very good experience with AXA...that is a shame they seem to be messing you around Tiger Lily, if it was me I would be fighting tooth and nail and contesting their decision.
as for insurers hiking premiums...three of my pets gave been with Petplan, and the premiums only jumped by about £3 a month when they reached the ;oldie age' of 10 years old. obviously premiums go up by a pound or two every year...i started out paying £7 for my cat 13 years ago, I now pay £19 a month for him.
my other cat is with AXA, and our renewal isn't until September. i did claim £800 3 months into the policy so i will be interested to see what my premiums will be next year.0 -
I have had quite a good quote from MoreThan has anyone had any dealings with them?:rolleyes:0

Lily - how could they know about a previous vet anyway? Chaya came from the rescue didnt she and they didnt tell you of any problems.
How is she?0 -

Our 3 are with More Than and I have to say they have been excellent so far. We have had to make 4 claims since September totalling around almost £6,000 and they have paid up promptly for each. We have the £7,000 per condition per year policy which isn't one of the cheapest but has been worthwhile for us. Don't know if our renewal price will shoot up though0 -

It's not £7000 each year with more than it's UP TO £7000 per condition. So if an animal has an ongoing problem once you hit the £7000 mark you then start paying yourself.0 -
Im afraid maggie is right. Your policy is unlikely to be a for life one - I rang More than myself a couple of months back and asked them directly and they admitted it wasnt a genuine for life policy but they were looking into providing one. May be they have done that recently?
NB, just been there to see if they have got a new for life policy but sorry, it says :
Up to £7,000 towards vetinary bills per new illness or condition
(they cant spell either)
Blow me, you have had a fair share of problems if youve claimed £6k in a year - hope your dogs are all ok now.0 -

Just goes to say how important it is to have a true for life policy!
Lets face it, not everyone will need to claim thousands in their pets life, in fact they may claim nothing at all!
But if you do need to stump up thousands and thousands for an ongoing condition, the cheaper policies will quickly run dry and cause a lot of grief.0 -
Yes, I guess for most pets £7k for their whole life may be ok - but for the others ........ Also, when Ive checked out these policies they tend not to be much different price wise to the proper for life ones.0
