Just taken a policy out for Osacr the dog with More Than, £15.19 a month with a £7000 limit £75 excess, plus Quidco.
Was with M&S they put the renewal up to £31 a month... !!!!!!!!
If i do a quote through M&S as a new policy they quote about £18??
    Go figure.....
More than looks a good policy, Sainsburys came close to, at £16.88 with a £7500 limit.
Oscar's 7 years and 3 months with balls.
used this site as a start. http://www.compare-pet-insurance.com/pet/index.php

Only prob judderman is that More than isnt for life. You use the £7000 on one condition and thats it - you are on your own. Sainsburys is the same.

On that list the only true for life providers were M and S, Halifax and Petplan.

Our renewal is up for one of my dogs insurance next month and we have just had the renewal details through. We are with More Than and it has hiked up almost £10.00 extra per month from last year. I didn't realise though that More Than didn't pay out on more than one condition..I'm sure I read that you can have vet treatment up to £7,000 per year on anything covered, although I think it may hinge on what type of cover you have. I know ours covers any illness in any one year I did confirm it with More Than just now.

Just checked on the More Than website and it says the following now:
    BENEFITS
You may claim up to the maximum amount shown on the Policy
    Schedule.
    A. Your pet’s veterinary treatment fees received during the policy
year for each separate illness and injury.
Anyway I have just got a quote from Halifax and they are £10.00 cheaper, so what I was wondering has anyone had any experience with Halifax and do they pay out on more than one illness per year. Not that my dog has anything wrong at the moment as he is only 6yr but well you never know as they got older - my other dog we were paying out almost £1000 a year on various illnesses in his last year and we didn't have insurance. We learnt when he passed on and we got this one, although we now have the other dog insured as well as both cats..

Edited to add I just rang up More Than and a very nice man actually got my insurance down to the price I had it on the website. I think what he did was actually put it through as a new policy as there are no existing claims/ailments with my dog. He did actually say that if I wanted to do this each year then I could until a claim was made that would need continual treatment.

am miffed, was going to go with halifax but they just put their premium up! never mind.

With life cover would you say its worth getting the £7000 per year or that the £4000 will do? I own a german shepard crossbreed (least we think so, she a rescue dog so cant very well claim she a purebreed, but there is ALOT of german shepard there but no slump on her hind quarters.)

Any views would be helpful thanks.

Oh and she is ether 6 or 7.

I have ended my insurence with Morethan, wanting £21!

Just need to know any suggestions for a life policy and if its worth getting the £7000 on a german shepard cross breed (unknown really as rescue dog but while strong german features, no lowering over her hind quarters) or if I could get away with the £4000 option.

i would go for the full whack £7k - usually only a matter of costing a few extra quid a month. for instance, i claimed my limit of £7k in one year - and that was with my vet 'doing me a favour' as he knew the treatments were going to cost about a grand more, so he kept it within the £7k limit.

unless the rescue have ofiicially stated that your dog is a cross-breed, just list it as mongrel...i think cross-breeds have higher premiums (i may be wrong on this)

oh...and make sure the sompany you choose doesn't penalise your dog as soon as it gets old. some firms add a percemtage liability on vets fees, it can be as high as 35%. AXA do not do this (yet), Pet Plan do, not sure about Halifax.

Fliss, list her as a cross breed or mongrel - cross breeds are normally healthier than pure breds so the premiums are lower.

Natty, more than pay out on more than one condition but each condition will be limited to the max amount. Say your dog had a kidney disease and it cost £5k in the first year and then was going to cost £3k a year after that for his life. Your pot of £7k for that condition would run out before the second year.

I just double checked in case they had changed (as I like them as a company for other insurances) but this is what is says

Up to £7,000 vets fees cover for each and every new accident and illness
. What’s more, your pet is covered for as long as they need the treatment, as long as they remain insured with MORE TH>N – many policies limit cover to just the first 12 months of treatment
