Well, i've just today redone the cat for the year in advance with Axa, it was the best I could find as she's 10 1/2, £50.00 fixed excess & £7,000 per yr for life cover. They underwrite alot & I think they pay up ok, cost £107 something so not too bad!0

Do any pet insurances cover the death of a puppy? I'm afraid that if mine runs into the road and is killed I would have to buy another one. Would insurance cover that? Mind you, she isn't allowed out on her own and we live in the country so it's not likely to happen but I'm a pessimist.
I would be more afraid that if she runs into the road not only may she be killed, but so could a motorist (or their passengers/children etc) trying to avoid her. It happens.
The best insurance against this is not letting her off lead at all till her recall is good, and keeping her on lead anywhere near a road.
Even older, steady dogs who walk to heel perfectly off lead can be spooked by a sudden noise or movement, or attracted to something, and bolt into the road, infront of an oncoming car, so just dont put your dog (or road users) in a position where that could happen, ever.
Insurance would cover the cost of another dog, but you would be breaking the law by not having your dog under control so could be prosecuted for allowing your dog to cause accidents or death.0 -
The last thing I would be thinking about is having to buy another one, tbh if Chaya dies I really don't care about getting the value of her back!0

Here we go again. Just received renewal papers from SAGA. Premium up over 30% to £436.50. Again no claims for last year. Got exactly the same story I got from Sainsbury's last year. Claims are up and vet's have raised their prices. I am beginning to think that the whole pet insurance industry is one big scam. Lady at SAGA said they would probably raise it again a lot next year. Great!!! They won't be getting any of my custom for any of their various businesses.
Any suggestions for a 4yr old Cocker Spaniel in London - very healthy.FREEDOM IS NOT FREE0 -
If he has had no claims/conditions that you need to worry about being covered in future, have a look at Petplan, NFU, HSBC, Halifax or AXA.0

what if this month i cancelled his insurance and put £60 away and the very next day something bad happens?
This is exactly what happened to me...one of my 4 cats macey's kidneys failed and I had to take the decision (after the bill reached 600) to have her put down - partly because I really didnt think she was getting better but mainly due to the cost...all my cats now have insurance and always will - yes its costly but for me worth every penny but you do need to be careful with the cover. After much research I got the whole life of pet one with petplan via quidco so got money back...25 I think...M&s always give cheap cover intially and then whac up the cost - fine if your pet doesent get a condition initially but not good if you dont...
Anyway popped on to ask whether people have any tips for stopping cats pooing/weeing on the carpet - I now have 6 litter trays and have tried tin foil and pepper to no avail = getting t the point now where Ill have to have wooden flooring put down cos it stinks!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Is it all of them or just certain one/s? Did anything change before this happened (As in, if there was no problem before, has anything changed now), are the trays away from food & water & reasonably private & kept clean? Have you kept the same litter or recently changed brand?
I would have wondered if it's Cystitis, but that doesn't involve pooing so idk. Could it be a territory thing? Any new Cats moved in nearby? Make sure you clean it with biological washing powder (Or for Dogs you do!) so they can't smell it at all, or they'll keep using that place. They don't like Citrus smells so you could try something Citrus smelling where they go?0 -
I'm with petplan and this year its going to be about £600 for their cover. I noticed I had the top one which was unlimited but now has a £12000 cover.
Petplan covers death by accident upto a set age which is 5 without looking.
What I don't like is that on the renewal it saids annual discount applies if paid in total and if paid by DD its taken off but nowhere does it state the discount and what it would be per month.0 -
It seems like all the pet insurance companies are increasing premiums now.0
