I got the plan number on the confirmation page so it went through ok...I just wasn't sure whether to phone up to get them to 'tag' my account on the old terms or suchlike...

Person I spoke to yesterday said "they should do" when i said is that definate he said "well I cant really say for sure."

The accountant must have gotten involved since yesterday's 'we will definitely honour' mantra.

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
  • My application was around the 11.30 cutoff point, I got through the application but haven't got a policy number on the 'You're Covered' screen.

I've rang PO twice but they haven't been able to tell me anything yet, just that they are aware of the problem and don't know what they are doing about it yet. They told me to ring back later today.

Cashback has tracked with TopCashback but amount is showing as £0.00. TopCashback have told me to give it 7 days to see if it updates and if not, submit a missing cashback claim.

hi all..i just called the PO about my quote and thought i'd let you know what i was told...like some of you, i did not get a plan number. they are saying that some applications did not go through (and probably mine and others that did not have a plan number). seems a bit odd as i got the confirmation page, and sent direct debit details, etc...anyway, they are saying they will look into it and come back to me...

they said the website could not cope because A MISTAKE was made with the original t&cs and they are waiting for the PO to make and official statement later today. this is in reference to all applications pre-11.30. I asked if this meant that the £100 offer would not be given and they said not necessarily.

I am pretty sure the £100 will be honoured as they will not really be able to get out of it, but because of that, I suspect anyone who has not got something they can tie them down with, ie a plan number will lose the offer...unless we can argue that we sent the details and got the confirmation?

Surely you get the £100 with £5 pm? where does it say £10 pm?

Some people make me REALLY angry by skipping posts and then asking others to explain and/or fill in the gaps. This has been posted NUMEROUS times during these hundreds of posts. In fact, several people have posted both the original and the revised T&C's. Personally, I can't see why they bother.

Hi, I took out a policy yesterday morning (9:44) and have a Policy Number. Just called Post Office to confirm old T&Cs would apply and was told that they are 'looking into this' and will give me a call back. I asked what there was to look into as those were the T&Cs when I signed up and she quoted the line 'We reserve the right to withdraw the offer, without notice at any time'.

Apparently a decision on whether the old T&Cs will apply to pre-11:30 policies is unders discussion and they expect a decision today, so she said they will call back later today.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I feared there may be a problem with this. Once posted on MSE it will be "smashed into".
I hope the members who took out this deal in time get it honoured. It was a "loophole" to be taken advantage of and it was. PO fault and they should put their hands up. Probably a costly mistake, but a lesson learned - at a cost.

The powers of MSE, it's a massive site and you do need to be quick to take advantage of an offer when posted.

Good luck to all involved, interesting.

Interesting because I doubt if the website was very busy 11.30pm on the 6th. ;)

Re: The "we reserve the right to withdraw the offer at any time", that just means just because its advertised to close say on 15th august doesnt mean that it will def be avaliable until that date as it could become over subscribed before that date.

They cant withdraw an offer from people who have a confirmed policy otherwise they need to say " we reserve the right to change the terms and conditions after the policy has received acceptance.:rotfl:

Lets remember a lot of us genuinely want the policy on the basis of what the terms were when we took it out.

I suggest that if the post office doesnt honour the "deal" everybody complains in writing and then complains to the insurance ombudsman.

I know of another offer, min 5.00ish a month needs to be maintained for 3 months before 100.00 cashback is paid so the "deal" the PO were offering is not unusual.

I wonder whether NU will be willing to lose potential future insurance customers over this as well, after all if the deal is not honoured they will have received a database of potential customer details for free.

Do you really expect everyone to read thru 300+ post to see if someone answered their query?
