can you use double up voucher things on housewares - plates etc?

I'm debating if I should double up or not as would want to use on stuff like bedding, pots, pans for a new flat
  • Does anyone else have reason to suspect the Ink Jet Recycling system is less than honest.

Its almost impossible to track how many points are credited for the envelopes posted; even Customer Services can only state how many Green Points were credited on what date - they say have no idea whether it was for Mobile Phones or Ink Jet Cartridges.

Over the past few months I have regularly posted both items for recycling green points and assess I should have earned in the region of 5,000 points - instead I have been credited with less than 3,000. Matching the dates the points were added with the dates I posted, the omissions appear to be with the Company that recycles Ink Jet Cartridges.

To account for the missing points there must have been an amazing number of envelopes lost in the post or an incredible failure rate in the used cartridges I sent (even though I closely inspected each one before posting)

Has anyone else had a similar experience??

Given the number of complaints in this thread about points not showing up in accounts I can't help thinking its a deliberate strategy by Tesco Clubcard to make it as difficult as possible to accurately track our points entitlement. After all, missing points is cash in their pockets Every Little Helps - THEM
If you are using 500 point envelopes for phones or cartridges they are no longer being honoured.
  • Yes, but even taking this into account I am still 1,000 or so short.

One entry I can clearly identify was 15 qualifying cartridges sent at the beginning of the month - instead of 1500 points all I received was 600.

I am now going to to keep a much closer check on these points but not sending any further cartridges or phones until the last has appeared on my points total.

I just can't get away from the thought that it is so obviously in the recycling company's interest to lose or reject perfectly good cartridges and thereby increasing their profits. And of course they would be perfectly aware that it is virtually impossible to check up on them.

Or perhaps I'm just too suspicious and big businesses can be trusted afterall
  • I don't know how they decide whether you get points or not for the cartridges - regardless of whether they are the accepted ones. I recently sent in 1500 points worth (of accepted cartridges) and was credited with 1300 points.

As from 1 September Tesco informed Greener Solutions that only 200 points per phone were to be allocated - regardless of whether they were in a 500 point or 300 point envelope. Annoyingly, the 300 point envelopes are still in store. Very misleading.

Remember that they will only accept 30 cartridges per year. And they only give points for cartridges that pass their 'testing process'.

Thanks for the information. I didn't know they had done that but I suppose we can't complain too much as they clearly state that they will be accepted according to the latest T & Cs.

What I really object to is being unable to check up on what has happened - How many points were allocated? On what date? For what recycling submission? How many cartridges failed their checks? How many envelopes 'went missing in the post'.? How many phones were deemed to be not working??????.... and so on and so on.

The whole of our life's experience tells us that big businesses just cannot be trusted to act honourably. There are over 6 million Clubcard Holders - that is a huge number of ink jet cartridges and phones going through the secretive recycling system at a potential cost to the recycling companies of £1 each. Add to this a system that appears to be deliberately impossible for the customer to find out what's going on and you end up with a trading environment ripe for exploitation by big business out to make as much money for themselves as possible.

It suits Tesco to allow this situation to continue unchecked; They still get the kudos of being seen to be doing something for the environment and the lack of available information for customers reduce the complaints.

I hate being the little man powerless to do anything about the dishonestly and deliberate unfairness of big business.

I was unaware that they had stopped taking the 300 and 500 point envelopes. I've looked at the T&Cs but can't see any mention of it. Am I being blind? Am annoyed as I've just sent off 3 phones after buying envelopes and some cheap phones off ebay!

I seem to be having a run of bad luck. I made the mistake of sending off 30 cartridges and writing the wrong clubcard number on the slips. Bit of a blonde moment but a 2 and a 7 are very similar! I wrote to Tesco and was told to take it up with the recycling company, they did confirm that the number I had put down did not exist. When I questioned the Recycling Factory they denied receiving any cartridges for the card number I gave or with the personal details I quoted. They questioned which address I had sent them to which was obviously the one on the envelopes that I had requested from them!! I did say I found it hard to believe that all 30 would have gone missing as they had been sent in several envelopes and each on seperate occassions. I've had no response, surprise, surprise.

The initial correspondence that I did get back from the Recycling Factory were clearly from a person who cannot string a sentence together or spell, so we shouldn't be too shocked that they cannot process a batch of cartridges.

Perhaps we need to hear from others that have points missing so that we can address this with Tesco.

    Moan over!

Nectar on the other hand allows you to log in to your account and see the details of the points you have earned with each member store, along with transaction dates, so you can keep track of any points that might be missing.

If they can do it, why can't Tesco??
