Hello, can I just ask if Tesco clubcard points ever expire? I got a voucher thru the post for £3.50 off, saying it was valid until 30/11/2010 but if I don't use it before then will the points just be wiped off my balance? I was planning on saving them up for a few years and using them towards something big in deals form! Thanks for any answers.

Your points when in your account have no end of use date, but they will always get transfered over to a voucher which will have an expiry date- so in answer to your question, in a way, I guess they do have an expire by date.

You can get them transfered into the special clubcard extra vouchers (not sure exactly what they are called but worth extra for your points- is this what you are saving for?). I have never done that myself so have no idea on the expiry date for those- or if they have one at all. You need to apply for the special vouchers and send off your old ones or something- not entirely sure- but you can call up tesco via the number on the website for the vouchers and they will give you more info/answer your questions.
  • Tescos seem to be concentrating on cheaper prices at the moment to help with the budgets rather than clubcard points. I suppose this makes sense at the moment with the credit crunch.

Just had a promotional email from Tesco.com Entertainment about their new site:

    http://www.tesco.com/entertainment/
As you may know, Entertainment UK Ltd (part of Woolworths PLC) have entered administration. Whilst Tesco.com is not part of this company, Entertainment UK Ltd was the main supplier of DVDs, CDs and Games for Tesco Entertainment online. We have now sourced a new supplier and it's back to 'business as usual' with the re-launch of our Entertainment site.

To enable you to access our new Entertainment site, you will need to register your details, as unfortunately we are unable to transfer our existing customer accounts across to our new site.

Why don't you visit our new Entertainment site and see for yourself what changes we have made - like free delivery on all orders*. We'll even give you 200 Clubcard Points when you spend £10 or more at our new site between now and New Year's Eve (excluding Books purchases).

Simply add to your basket the eCoupon code 200BONUSCCPTS before you checkout and your Clubcard Points will be automatically added to your February 2009 Clubcard Statement.

I've spent a lot of hours reading through the whole of both these threads today only to end up feeling that I've somewhat missed the boat (this seems to be the story in a number of areas, guess thats the only drawback of MSE, a little knowledge goes a long way and has a big effect when taken on board by tens of thousands).

The thing I did notice was lots of people warning about taking trolley find receipts to CS and getting the points from them - numerous mentions of some unnamed person who was investigated by Dundee and lost all their points, were banned, sent to jail, burnt at the steak etc, but unless I blinked and missed it, not a single poster saying it had actually happened to them. It was always a mysterious person who had suffered the misfortune to be caught out cheating the Tesco Empire.

However, I did find someone who admitted to being banned on this thread http://www.paidtoshop.co.uk/showthread.php?t=50198
It wasn't for receipt abuse though.

    Yes he did exist.

If he chooses to step into the spotlight though that's up to him.

But it did happen - more than once,

I would appreciate some help from some you moneysaving wizards out there.
I want to make sure I am getting the most efficient savings.

My Capital ONE Credit Card is coming to its anniversary so I am expecting a hundred ponds in January
I have the AMEX Credit Card currently getting 1.5% cashback. Anniversary in May 09
I have just heard about Tesco Clubcard Plus - is it stll double clubcard points? Application just requested. So Clubcard Deals multiplies points by 4.

My brain aches with all these.
So which is the best payment method?

    Thanks

Just to let u all know. I have had confirmation from Tescos & I quote 'that due to clubcard customers cutting up plastics to boost clubcard rewards they are now only offering green points for alluminum cans 2 cans = 1 point' Whislt you can still recycle the other items there will not be green clubcard points awarded for the other items.
No point doing it now, I don't drink many cans and I can recycle everything at the doorstep!!!

I've just come across this thread. Or should say, found it 2 hours ago, just got to the end.

If you reuse carrier bags and shop regularly, choose a checkout with a friendly assistant. Some can be quite generous with green clubcard points. I may use 1 reusable bag and 4 or 5 small disposable bags, but still get 3 points per bag.
It's not much, and not always practical, but I reckon to get an extra 10-15 points per visit.
