I exchanged a small number of vouchers just before the offer started, just to see how long it took to convert to airmiles as I have a large stash of tesco vouchers and planned to hold on to them until I had decided where to go and checked availability of flights! Been regretting it ever since. Grrrrrr!
Sorry to hear that:(
Can you please tell me how long does it take before the airmiles are credited to your airmiles account?0 -

Some times it can be very quick, but always allow 28 days.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Someone is on a high horse today...
"within 28 days" isn't exactly telling you "the real time" is it?
Restaurant vouchers turn up in 2-3 days and the website says "within 5 working days"...0 -
I'm really cheesed off to see all the points they give out on stuff AFTER I have paid for them.0

Hi Everyone,
I'm fairly new to the forum and am wondering if you can give me some advice please? I've never exchanged Tesco vouchers for anything other than my grocery shopping! Now that I've been looking thru this forum, I see that there's better options.
We're hoping to go to Florida in 2 years and I'd been thinking of using my vouchers for things like meals out (to get 4x the value), the zoo and other days out, putting the cash equivalent away each time I use them so that I'm saving as I go. Does that make sense? What I mean is that if I use £10 to get £40 for a day out, I'd use my vouchers then out £40 cash away towards our holiday (as we'd be doing the day out regardless of vouchers).
Is it worth transferring to Airmiles vouchers instead of putting the cash away? I don't know how long they're valid for. Probably wouldn't be booking the flights until lat 2011.
Help?!!
Thanks xx0 -
Anybody due to the larger 'cheque' book style mailings and have yet to receive them? I am getting a little worried. If there not coming, i want them reissued in time as opposed to rolloing over on to next quarters mailing.0

It is difficult to say 2 years in advance what the airmiles deals will look like, but generally I would say if you are going to spend on the restaurant anyway it would make sense to put the equivalent cash away.
You will then have many more options of providers and ability of getting some deals.0 -

You can book holidays using vouchers with Cosmos and Virgin but both have recently introduced per person limits for the holiday value (Cosmos £400 per person. Virgin £700 per person). Looking 2 years ahead conditions and companies may have changed. It is also worth noting that the vouchers will be set against the full brochure value of the holiday so you probably will not be able to take advantage of any promotional prices.
Your idea does sound good as long as you are prepared to set your money aside. You could also consider putting it into a cash ISA so you don't pay tax on the interest.
Airmiles IMHO does not offer a particularly good conversion deal unless you can take advantage of other airmiles offers. There was a deal recently where airmiles were offering double airmiles on Tesco vouchers if it was your first conversion, I am not sure if this is still a valid offer. You can also convert Tesco points to BA Airmiles, again I don't think this offers a particularly good conversion rate and who knows if BA will still be operating in 2 years!
People usually complain that the Tesco Rewards don't offer the full x4 face value against offers that you can get. Although this is true e.g. currently you can get 2-4-1 deals on theme parks so you are effectively only getting x2 the face value, if you chose the deals carefully you can usually get the equivalent of x3.
So if I was using rewards for a Virgin holiday to florida I would chose an expensive time like school holidays when other discounts are less available to maximise the conversion value. As an example we had a £4500 holiday in Canada at Christmas time and most of it was paid by Tesco, however, that was about 3 years of collecting!
Don't forget to look at boosting your points with old mobile phone (5 per calender year) and ink cartridge recycling (30 per calender year), together that would give you a maximum of 4000 points. Good Luck0
