I'm not under 3, I'm 28 in fact, but I love the Mick Inkpen books!
(In fact I've already been reading Kipper's Toy Box to my unborn daughter!
) Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
One of my favourites which is quite silly and appeals to kids who know about poo The Story of the Little Mole Who Knew It Was None of His Business (Paperback)
by Werner Holzwarth (Author), Wolf Erlbruch (Illustrator)
My little girl is only 6 months so doesn't really get it yet, but I am sure we will have lots of fun reading it in the next few years.0 -
My daughter is two and a half. A lot of our favourites are the ones above - 'each peach pear plum', 'very hungry caterpillar', gruffalo, dear zoo, but we do have some others - 'one ted fell out of bed' and 'the smartest giant in town' (both by the same author as gruffalo - I think)
she's just getting to 'read' the books from memory. I struggled not to laugh the other day when she had the very hungry caterpillar... "bla, bla, bla, chotat cake, ice peam, bla bla, dish cheese, toshige, bla, bla water melon, bla, bal, much better" - sort of makes sense if you know the book!2021 - mission declutter and clean - 0/20210 -
My daughter is 2 and a half and she loves "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" also "Owl Babies " and "Peace at Last" by Jill Murray. She has an older brother and sister so she reads their outgrown books as well as the ones we buy for her. Thomas the Tank Engine is another favourite!!! At bedtime or whenever she wants a story she presents me with a pile of 4 or 5 books to read!!!!loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!:eek:0

DD loved "Can I play" by Janet Thomas and DS loves it at the moment. They read it in DD and DS's nursery and there's a passage in it which is repeated afew times and the children can join in with it ("no, tig is for two, you can't play"
). "Room on the Broom" by Julia Donaldson (author of the Gruffalo) is also a fave for a similar reason. ("Buzz off, that's my witch":D).
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -

Hi
I can echo all of the above books and can I just recommend that you look at the www.thebookpeople.co.uk
I do not work for them but I have bought loads of stuff from them. You can get all of the mentioned books in packs of about 10. RRP about £55 but they charge only £10! orders over £25 free P&P. Alos, all 50 thomas the tank engine books for £30.
I went on last night and got about 30 excellent toddler books for £25.98!
Hope this helps

Hairy Maclary from Donaldsons Dairy
and all the accompanying ones like caterwaul caper, scattercat, rumpus at the vet, showbusiness.
My son adored them from 18 months and has passed the love onto his sister. I love peeping in on them DS (4 on Sunday) reading to DD (just 2) and getting her to end the sentences
DS: Hairy maclary from Donaldson's? From Donaldsons?
DD: DAIRY!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I agree the Hairy Maclary books are a hit in this house too, as are Dear Zoo, all Shirley Hughes, the Gruffalo, I won't bite and loads more.
Each Pear Each Plum and The Very Hungry Catapillar are the duds in our house and sit forelornly almost untouched
