The gruffalo is a fave in our house too and the other ones by the same authors, monkey puzzle, a squash and a squeeze ect
  • my son wasn't into the gruffalo at under 3, but as he turned 3 he liked it.

his favourites are bear hunt, hungry caterpillar and 'the tiger who came to tea'.

he liked loads of books at different ages really - a 1 year old would probably have different favourites to a 2 year old.

Edmund loves signing song books, and has done for ages. This is his favourite.

  • My son loved Kipper books, or any Mick Inkpen books really. Wibbly Pig was another favourite.

The Gruffalo & Gruffalo's child are hits in our house too. Any princess stories are always a hit as are activity books. Another 2 strange ones my girls love (they are 3 1/2 & 17 months) are the fantastic world of animals & a book with loads of photo's of different dog breeds - neither are "theirs" but they are always getting them down for a look through.

My three-year-old seems to like the Thomas the Tank Engine books. He can also recite The Hungry Catterpillar and We're All Going on a Bear Hunt.

My dd loves Hug by Jez Alborough, it's gorgeous and such a lovely simple expressive wee story, the 1st time we read it together I welled up a little. It's about a monkey called bobo who needs a hug from his mummy:cry: but for some reason dd calls him muggle. Think we'll read it again tomorrow night.

    My tots love

    Happy Dog Sad Dog

and the Icky Sticky Frog is hilariously great for any aged child

Some Dogs Do is an amazing book which all my kids listen to spellbound (another Jez Alborough book)
