Afternoon all
Well have been into town with youngest DS this morning queues were huge!!!! Managed to get some last bits and bobs. Went to Sainsbury's for my food shop and it was fairly quiet thank god!!! I had £45 worth of nectar points thanks to all the surveys I've done with TNS and I had a £3 off voucher from sainsburys, plus £2 cash back for parking, bill came to £83 but with all that money off I only paid £33 :T
Little miss see I think that if you have an agreement with Virgin and start paying more then yes they probably will end the agreement and start charging you interest again, have you not got a savings account you could make daily payments into and then pay it off in a lump sum?? welcome to the challenge!!
Joeyjimbles - I never make new years resolutions cos I never stick to them longer than a week lol but one I will stick to is this thread and getting my debt down in 2009!!
Anyway paid £1.23 to cap1 cc and another 4 £2 coins into my sealed tin and 93p to copper jar

I'm new to writing on this site, although I've read for a little while. My lightbulb moment came in July after my partner proposed and we sat down to work out finances for buying a house / paying for a wedding. To my alarm, although I was paying money off my Cap 1 card each month, the balance wasn't going down. I took out a 0% card with nationwide, shredded the pin once I received it and gave the card to my partner to hide. I have been paying a large chunk to the Cap 1 balance (now paid off
) with minimum payments to Nationwide each month.
Now that the interest-earning debt is clear, I'll be joining this challenge. I aim to make round number payments evey day to both credit card and savings. Here's hoping! (And hoping that my sig works)Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
hi to the newest members - you'll be surprised how quickly this becomes an unmissable part of your day!
i agree that's it's all about the mindset - my big one this month has been thinking about no spend days. i *will* get to 10 this month, but sadly today was not to be one of them. the car guy rang me about lunchtime and turned up shortly thereafter to fit my new heater part. so - yay! car is warm. but boo! had to pay him 60 quid in cash...
greenbynature, i agree it's a good way to go. no suffering. along these lines, got the date for my grandad's funeral this afternoon - 7 january, 2 weeks from tomorrow. my dad and my sister have booked their flights from the states (mum has to stay home with the dogs and bro can't manage to get here), so a sad little reunion will start off my new year. it can only get better from there, though, eh?
another pound from me today to savings. also pleased to be picking up a thomas the tank duvet set from a freecycler later, but may need to pop into asda for some cheese - just discovered that the massive block i bought is in fact mild cheddar, not strong  and i need strong cheddar for my cauliflower cheese soup (starter on xmas day). silly moo!
xxMortgage free as of 11/11/15 !
:Anow... to start some serious saving :A

Hey there,
More info on the new charging policy from Bank of Scotland. It's only the Moneyback customers who are going over to the new account right away (And I'm one of them, lol) I think the rest are being done on a phased basis. If you are a Moneyback customer, you are allowed to cancel your account early and the bank will still payout your Moneyback to you - you can then either close the account and go elsewhere, or redesignate it to an account which isn't charging at the moment.
I hope this makes sense to you! If not, go and see your branch to find out if you're one of the customers who will be affected in February.0 -
