:santa2: Morning everyone! As always thank you for the lovely messages of support. My thanks really is sincere. You're all very special.

Terri - have you and your OH managed to sort things out? This time of year adds so much pressure. I think it's because everyone has their own expectation of what things should be like.

Greenbynature - your aunt's passing does sound peaceful. To know someone hasn't suffered is a great relief.

    Payments:

    £1.00 evil loan
    £2.50 EPDL
    £2 cap 1

Got my niece here so off to entertain.

Hope everyone has a good day  :rudolf:

  • This thread is incredible - its such an emotional rollercoaster. And I really liked the comment that it feels safe and warm here - its so true. Hugs to everyone having a rough time, dealing with stuff and everyone else's stuff and well done on the fabulous achievements despite everything. We rock.

I have a new year's resolution - to be more inventive with my smilies! What about all of you? Apart from you and yours to be happy and healthy - which I wish you all.

Until then my debt has actually gone up thanks to interest but its only £2.90 and I have more than that in my pennies box so as long as I can get into the bank tomorrow I will stay under £150 and am really hoping to have this gone by the end of February. I was going to say March but I'm going to be tougher with myself as there is another one (big one) to crack and I really want to get it all gone so need to set myself a faster pace.

I echo all everyone has said about this thread. even though my pay has been delayed I'm still determined to not miss a payment a day. Tomorrow I will set up payments for all the days over the hols!

I especially agree with Fresians comment about the change of mindset. Now when I see 'spare' cash I think what can i pay back rather than what can i buy. Since my dad died my mum has given me and brothers odd cheques every now and then. Not massive amounts, say £100 here, £300 there. These have always been used to 'fight fires' as it were. To just live on or pay a bill. I am determined that in 2009 if i recieve any they will be saved and used for something useful. Earlier I was pondering just how much, now I've made a decent budget (Budget whats one of those!) I can pay off. Then I got to thinking,.......when it's all paid off think how much I can pay off the mortgage. Im definately in this for the long term. I WILL get my cottage with land and chickens! Ok Ramble over.

Best wishes to all, everyone has their own 'stuff' to deal with at this time of year. Have the happiest and truest to yourself christmas you can have. If that means slobbing in your pjs all day then so be it!!!

    Have a good one all.

  • Hello all!

I'm quite new on here, and have received alot of good advice.

Anyway, I think this is a really good idea and I am determined to start this. Just a quick one though, I have a credit card with Virgin, which I am determined to shift. I am on an arrangement with them at the moment whereby I pay £48 per month to them and my interest and charges are frozen (their normal interest was around 24.9%). Anyway, as I want to make a payment a day to this, will this mean that they will put the interest and charges back on the account?

    Cheers

I'm not familiar with virgin but it if that is the case it might be an idea to make a payment a day to another account (where it could be earning interest) or a sealed pot till you have the balance and pay it off in one go. that would be a great feeling!
I'm new to this challenge too i'm sure someone on here can offer you more advice.
