I'd say it is IF you can find the right barcode - which I presume goes with the right packaging.

I went to 2 Extras yesterday and found what appears to be exactly the same timers.

HOWEVER the SEL is a yellow one with a reduction to £1.49 (from £2.49 or £2.95/£2.97 or such - NOT £4) and they do scan at this price (ie. £1.49) ... well SOME of them do. ***

Perhaps oliveoyl can confirm exactly what the outer packaging is made from.
Is it a "hard shell" formed plastic (like a "pop" bottle) or is it just a "cling film" wrapper ?

The ones I found were like "cling-film" (shrink wrapped?) and did NOT have the £4 yellow sticker flash on them. Also some of them had different writing on the inner cardboard sleeve - seem to remember a "GREEN" reference.
These were all sitting in a cardboard box/tray (in fours) located around the lightbulb section.
ALL these had a different barcode to the one above and I confirmed the reduced SEL - scanned at £1.49

*** I then found one with a different barcode - yippee I thought ( :( - sadly having written down the above barcode I'd left it at home) - yippee didn't last long - SCANNED at £4

When I got home I checked and barcode WAS NOT the above - I think it was 5051790963857 (last 3 digits might just be wrong) and the packaging was slightly different.
There was an additional small hard plastic tag (inch square) with a hole in it stuck at the top on the back (so that the item could be hung up) and I subsequently found a selection of these hanging on one of those plastic strips in the electrical section (where the TV, phones, radios etc. are)

So no joy for me - not found the right barcode - will try another store next week. :)

i got hte ones at 1.49 so i put em back

The packet is like a thick cling film... the stuff that they heat to shrink/fit.

The SEL had them priced at 1p if that's any help.
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!

  • Went to local extra this am, found timer marked up at £1.48, scanned to check price & it scanned at £4!! paid for it with other shopping, then to CS. Followed SA to aisle who said it wasn't the same product as barcode was different, Wanted to find me one with the same code as the SEL.They all had the same code as mine! Nevermind said I, won't bother, can I have a refund please. The SA then said I'll just give you DTD, so, £5.04 refund! Haven't got the courage to go & buy anymore!!!:D
